Is there such a thing as a sub moa out of the box 5.56 semi auto non restricted rifle

Managed to get 4/5 on the moa challenge with my xcr with hornady match ammo. Was it a sub-moa rifle? Nope, but more accurate than the experiences of others. It was plenty accurate for what I used it for, 12" gong at 600m and in.

im kinda starting to think ill grab a cheap battle rifle and slowly build exaclty what i want. all the stuff that even come close to what im looking for is over 2000$ and would still require extra bells and whistles since im a lefty when it comes to shooting :\

So you'd rather spend a little at a time turning a cheap rifle into an expensive cheap rifle than just spend $3000 and get something quality right from the beginning.
Being a lefty means nothing when it comes to a "battle rifle". Even a standard non ambi AR was designed to be fired from both shoulders and the controls are easily used by right and left handed shooters. You don't need any extra bells and whistles to use them effectively. What you need is training and practice.

I'm not going to build up the cheap rifle...I'll build another from scratch and it will end up being roughly 2500-3000$

Keeping a 600$ ar for shooting crap ammo for ####s n giggles isn't a bad thing.... And saves the expensive match barrel 3 gun ready setup for more serious business.

what NR rifle can you build from scratch?

or did you give up on NR status?

That's what I did, got 2 ar15s for fun and giggles, got 2 ar15 for comps, and a spare upper in case

4ar15 between the wife and I isn't excessive

Although all my ar15s are colt canada with agog regardless of fun or comp designation, barrel length and barrel are what determines if it's a comp ar or not

Now my only nr semi rifles that can give you accuracy are the acr, the Swiss, and the apc, the rest I don't exoect accuracy to be their main feature

Remember the ross rifle was incredibly accurate, but unfortunately unsuited for what is was designated to be

gave up on NR the options arent really good for price/quality/accuracy/customization

building an ar from scratch for more of a run and gun/3 gun setup with match barrel billet matched upper/lower etc etc

not really interested in spending 7000$ for an ar with good optics right now id rather build it up piece by piece as the need arises (if it even does...)
comp grade ar for offhanding steel silhouettes at 300-500 yards is kinda overkill
from what i gather the entry level stuff is pretty hit and miss depending on what amo you feed it.
a 1 moa difference doesnt seem like much but when your target is 18 inches wide at 500 yards going from 1 moa to 2 moa makes a rather big difference. specially once you add in human error wind and marksmanship. (especially offhand)
but ive seen guys offhand 400m silhouettes with 100% accuracy. its doable with the right training/practice and the right gun.
a 3 moa gun with a perfect shooter will miss at that range. (12 inches of error on an 18 inch target means the slightest wind even if you aimed dead center with no shake and perfect posture will more then likely miss)

the military grade colts are sub moa guns out of the box. theres a reason the canadian soldiers are well respected around the world...they may have ####ty old tanks planes and helicopters but awesome training and bang on rifles ;)
