yep, no kidding.
probably because he already knows the answer to the question, and still wants to sell it. Id cancel on that note myself.
Yea that about sums up what we discussed. I've pm'd Ryan (Chemist) again now to get a proper answer.

For the record, I purchased mine from SFRC. I don't think the improper handling occurred at the dealers up here, due to the fact there are examples from different dealers. Considering how fast these were bought up, I doubt anyone at North Sylva had time to muck around with them either. That leaves poor QC at S&W as the most likely reason.
I just sent mine off to Murray this morning, so we'll see what he says about the corrosion. I guess I already know what the verdict is on the cylinder.
I just had email saying mine is shipped from SFRC, did they offer to refund or pay for shipping for warranty?
Mine is going out tomorrow. I just got word from SFRC that ALL the 4.2" 629's in their shipment have the peening damage. F**king sucks b@lls if you ask me.

what about the extractor wobble?
So the warranty people say there should be no peening damage and probably extractor wobble yet sfrc say this is normal?
FFS
OK. Thanks. This is my first S&W and I feel I've envisioned them as god-like creations.
When I saw her, finally, finally holding her in my hands... well, reality hit me hard and it was a little unpleaseant.
If a few more owners could chime in I'll be content.
I guess they are just shooters afterall![]()
Talk about kicking someone when their down, so sh1t & w4nker will sell you crap and then give you the option to spend even more money to fix the crap.A "heads up" on new cylinders.
I was offered the option to 'buy' a new cylinder and pay for labour (whether this changes or not, we'll see), but, the really bad news is that it takes at least 3 months to go this route.
The fix I got was the quickest.
Bizarre situation indeed. This is clearly a S&W F-UP on an epic level!
S&W should seriously weigh in on this.
I'll shoot it a bit, then probably go the same route GunGuy34 went at a loss. EE it in a month or so.
I'm personally hoping Murray will say "WTF?" after a few more received 629's and then get in touch with S&W to find out what the hell went on. Here's hoping.
