I’ve seen dealers calling them “fair” condition. I’m just curious, if anyone has bought one and can comment on the condition and if they’re happy with their purchase?

I just sold mine. the barrel was like new, on the stock was female polish nails signs, look that was used for patroling only, not in fight.

I held a few in person at one of the dealers a while back and felt they were fairly rough externally. The stock to metal fit on most of them seemed fairly poor with wobbly stocks and loose actions. With a bit of shimming and a solid clean they would likely tighten up better.

Edit: I should add that what I saw/mentioned above wouldn’t necessarily turn me off the current import of carbines - I’d just take a look in person if possible. At the end of the day the M1 carbine is a great little carbine and it’s great that these are available.

Picked this Nov 43 Inland from SFRC. She was very dirty but in decent shape. Mine hits a bit high at 100 yard as there is evidence that someone filed the front sight a touch.

The Choate stock is solid, the only flaw was the pistol grip was used as a spare magazine holder and had a 1 inch crack that I had to repair. I left the paracord on the sling mounts as I found it. Any function issues were from not seating the magazine properly. The KCI magazines from Marstar work just fine.

My shooting buddy liked mine so he ordered one too. He was a bit disappointed when the top hand guard was crushed and the front sight was a little loose. We sourced another hand guard from Wolverine Supplies and will try to fix the front sight. It shoots right on at 100 yards. His is a mid war Winchester .

I am using this while the fate of my AR-15 is decided. At least I can stand a little closer to the steel targets now.

Mine looked a bit rough, but shoots fantastic!

I have seen photos of Israeli tourist guides , both male and female with M1 carbines , though with original wooden stock and magazines in the buttstock mag pouch, as they aren’t allowed to have a magazine in their weapons

I picked up one of these. Shot it as was and was off paper at ten yards. Rear sight was pushed in the dovetail unevenly, so I had to adjust sight all the way to one side. Shot well, no malfunctions. The elevation adjustment appears to be welded fixed at the 100 setting. Anyone else have this?

I ordered one from Marstar, still waiting on transfer. Hopefully itst in decent shape. I ordered a Wolff spring kit and a Picatinny rail to replace handguard. I'm planning to put a red dot on it.

back in the early 90's while in Isreal, I would often see fellows in their seventies or eighties patrolling their neighbourhoods. some kind of civil guard, they carried M1 carbines.

Ordered one from Marstar last night. I should have ordered sooner because the sale must have ended hours earlier.

The 90s were a tough time in Israel.
