I tore the gun apart and indeed it does look identical...I would give this a shot if I get ahold of a replacement firing pin (dont want to screw up the only one I have). Also I found an article about how the cycling of the bolt can loosen and then strip the threads in piece #39 because the vertical bolt that goes into it only engages about 1/3 of the threads....this was identified as an issue that impacted reliability. after examining mine I did find that the threads on this piece have begun to strip....the article suggests that a longer (3/4") #6-32 bolt will alleviate the problem and increase reliability so I will give this a shot and report back.

Received the SCAR Jr. today, and I am totally blown away. Dad showed up just as I was unboxing it, and between us we fired over 400 mixed rounds this morning and had a great time.
Assembly was quick and painless (the two sights and a pin for the stock), and we were impressed with how sturdy the rifle is. There is some rattling and a bit of looseness when the stock is extended, but when shouldered and firing it's all good. The weight and balance feel just right to me, and the stock extended to the 2 position makes for a nice LOP. The six position charging handle and ambi mag release and safety are very nice features also.
In the negative column are a few things though. First off is the cheekpiece. My only question is Why? At its lowest position I can barely get down enough to use the open sights or fakeotech, and yet it can be raised another 1/2"? Good if you need to use up some spare scope risers, but otherwise I can't see its purpose. The safety lever seems more than large enough, and there's enough travel there that my little girly thumb can't fully sweep it through the entire range of motion. And lastly I miss a manual bolt hold open/release. The bolt does stay open on the last shot (yay!), but to release it the mag must be removed, and to hold it open an empty mag must be inserted (or reach up into the magwell to activate the catch with your finger. Oh, and there's a mag safety also, so single rounds aren't so easy to just drop in and fire.
So anyhoo, after quickly mounting the fakeotech & magnifier and running a snake down the bore we headed out and sighted her in. After a few rounds we were close to the bull so out to 50m we went and got down to shooting. And became very impressed. First thing of course is the trigger, and while it's nothing great it isn't too bad either. Mushy but fairly light, and with a good enough break that we never felt we were fighting it. Accuracy was, in a word, outstanding. Dad's best group was ~1.5" for 10 shots, and 8 of those were well inside a 1" square. My best was 1.75" for 20 shots, and the first 4 of those were all touching. In one mixed mag loaded with Remington Subsonics, Federal HP bulk pack and CCI MiniMag 40gr there were three distinct groups of 5 rounds each, and the Subsonics were in a .75" cluster. Ammunition tried was Federal bulk, CCI MiniMags, Remington Golden bullet (both HP and RN), Remington Subsonics and Winchester Western and Xpert 22. I can hardly wait to get a decent scope mounted with a comfortable cheek weld and really see what the rifle is capable of.
Reliability was 99%+, with 3 light strikes (rims were dented, but not as much as fired rounds) that went bang the second time and one failure to feed (bent bullet). All screws, bolts and other fasteners were and are still tight, and I had none of the problems that others have been reporting.
Overall a fantastic rifle so far, and if nothing ugly rears its head I can see the SR-22 going on the EE soon and the Mk22 becoming my go-to rifle.

Had a nephew show up, so we ran through a box of 500 rounds of bulk Winchester Xpert HP in Jr. today. Didn't do any accuracy work due to knockoff sight sight failure, but we smacked some steel around and punched random holes in various cardboard boxes. Aside from 30k winds (thankfully we're sheltered some in the yard) and 6 degrees of heat(?) it was a fine day for plinking with the little SCAR.
Didn't really keep track, but there were probably 7 (maybe 10) light strikes that went bang the second time, and two or three failure to feed where the round didn't have any angle up to hit the feed ramp and simply stopped the bolt from moving forward. I need to mark the mags and keep note of this, as it may be just the one mag doing this.
Also found the first loose screws, both of which were in the stock adjustments. A drop of blue was added to each before retightening, and we'll see if any more start showing up.
So after 900+ rounds there have been ~15 problems so far. Not bad, but I'm watching it like a hawk to see if anything more serious starts happening.

Looking at yours I'm thinking maybe the black is a better choice with the Mk22. I absolutely love the tan color and finish of the upper and lower, but the stock is a different greenish shade, texture and type of plastic altogether, and really detracts from the overall appearance. The black also suffers from the different plastic, but it doesn't seem as noticeable.
Hmmm. I wonder what a black stock would look like on a tan upper & lower? Any photoshop users out there that could do a quick coloring job...?

More shooting today. Round count is just shy of 1500, and still getting the occasional light strike on the primer. Friend of mine had 4 in a row with it this morning though, so I'm unsure if it's a hammer, firing pin or bolt closure issue (he may have been riding the handle forward).
After screwing around with the craptastic eBay knockoffs a Burris AR-332 was ordered and installed. Pretty decent sight with a reticle that may or may not be useful on a .22 at extended ranges. The dot covers 1" at 50m, and works well both on paper and the various metal swingers and rollers at my rimfire range.

Anyhoo, when she's shooting, she's shooting well. I still haven't gone over to the solid bench with sandbags to do ammo and accuracy testing, but even off the semi-wobbly swivel table I'm still quite pleased with the results...

I picked up one of these toys a couple of days ago and had a chance to try it out last night. After reading a few less-than-stellar reviews, I was anxious...but for once I lucked out. No special preparations, just a couple of dry patches down the barrel before I began shooting. I put just over 300 rounds through the gun before dusk and experienced only one malfunction, a single failure to feed that may have been attributable to resting the gun on the mag while shooting. Otherwise, function was excellent. Trigger is okay, fairly light and consistent but not exactly crisp.
Accuracy was variable, as is to be expected. Best accuracy was about 1.5" (Remington Subsonics, a favourite of mine), worst was about 3" (several loads), all at 50 yards. Shooting was done with a scope set at 9x, mounted in a Burris PEPR. As Harv mentioned, the cheekpiece is extremely high. I had to keep it folded down to its lowest position, and still found the PEPR barely high enough to use. The included sights were way too low, unusable for me, so I left them off. I have a set of Magpul BUIS that I will try eventually, but for now I will keep the scope in place until I do some serious accuracy testing and find the gun's favourite load, and then will probably replace it with a red dot or holo sight. I don't expect this gun to ever be a tackdriver...it's a fun gun, pure and simple.
The magazine (I have only one) works perfectly if loaded to the advertised capacity of 22 rounds. It's easy to actually get 24 or 25 into it, but it won't feed at all until you back off to 22, so I don't consider that a failure. I had to smile when I saw the round-count numbers molded into the mag body were spaced as if for .223's. The thumb-tab makes loading the mag very easy.
Overall the gun seems solid and well-built, although the collapsing stock and folding cheekpiece are a bit rattly. Mine is black, so I can't comment on colour match. Considering the number of so-so reviews on these guns, I am pretty happy so far. Barring any unforeseen difficulties, I'll be keeping this for awhile.

I have installed the HK pins in my ISSC mk22 and they fit perfectly. They actually are better then the OEM solution and I no longer require screwdrivers to detach the lower. Highly recommend.
