Ithaca Shotguns

I've already got a nice sporting length Ithaca 37 but I *need* a shorter setup, either Stakeout or riot length will do, as long as the barrel is removable.

You see, despite my username, the Ithaca 37 is not only my favorite pump, but probably my favorite repeating shotgun of any kind.

About five years ago at Bud Hayes auction there was a bunch of 14" auctioned off. It was from the estate of the Canadian distributer. He was the distributer for Ithaca in the late '80s, early '90s.

Ithaca has a new model, called the HogSlayer. It is not on their website yet, but is 8 shot pump, 20" riffled barrel. This would be a good model when in bear country. It comes with rifle sights.

It is the same as this model:

Hogslayer model kind of makes sense with the Alberta SRD Wild Boar Eradication Program. I contacted them a few years back & fair chase rules did not apply to any magazine capacity for manual repeating shotguns for these tusky little beasts. Hence the eight shot capacity can be fully appreciated here. The only other exception I can remember right off, is that the use of electronic calls were okay for this task in Alberta also. Personally I think a smoothbore barrel with the rifle sights, would be a bit more versatile though. With a fully rifled shotgun barrel you better have: 1. A very generous sabot slug fund or number 2. A great slug mold so one can cast your own solid lead slug & reload your own. Run of the mill foster slugs will most likely gum up that rifled bore way too early for practical needs.

I bought mine off an individual and it didn't have a box anymore. No idea how many of these are out there. They're from the M87 era with 3" chamber. My receiver is 2 3/4" only though.

Prior to that I had the chance to buy one in the box for $150, been kicking myself ever since because I ended up paying double that.

Thanks Brutus!
That right there is about the perfect length for a short barreled 37!
How far does the barrel extend past the flat part of the barrel lug? Looks way better then the stubby 13" stakeout.

No problem friend. By my measurement, just a hair under 1 7/8's of an inch.
It does handle real nice & it looks right. I will agree with you on that for sure.

Cheers!

Kinda intererested in the Ithaca 37's.. does anyone know if the sling plates etc. for an 870 are compatible with the Model 37's?

No they are not but a canadian MFG will be working on a ambi single point sling adaptor later this summer, so that will be great for the new production of Riot/combat shotguns we are bringing in from ithica.

Going to try and get some good pics today.

Contact your local dealer and let them know what you'd like.

I am interested in one of the defense models but I want ghost ring sights on it. Or at the very least rifle sights. Any plans for this?

I believe Calgary Shooting Center has an 8 shot with rifled sights in stock.

I think we have a 5 shot with rifled sights in stock.
