Its here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Valmet M78)

Very nice rifle BFiles, congratulations on your purchase of a unicorn! I had an M78 in .308 back in the day that I foolishly traded away long before they became the only NR "AKs" in a land of prohibs. Anyhow, nice find for you! I wouldn't mess with it, as tempting as it might be to turn it into a handier package. Think long-term investment and enjoy the rifle for what it is, how it is. Just my $.02

Guys this is a 6 year old thread but this is what I had, 2x M78's in 7.62x39 and chopped 1 of the barrels down to 18.6", re threaded, added muzzle break and got rid of the bipod for a more rifle then lmg style

Short of reading the whole thread.

How much? And did you buy it in Canada?

I bought one off the board a few years ago for $3000. I did try to sell it. I started at $5000 and no takers, then $4500, then $4000. Final price drop was $3500, still no interest.

Probably with the VZ and T81 the number of people wanting one has gone down. Still a sweet collector item or shooter IMO.

or people have gotten cheaper. Sure the vz/81/etc pack looks similar, but they ain't! :)

If anyone put an M78 in 223, 308 or *gasp* x39, it would go pretty quick at 3500$...

People simply don't have as much money to spend - the various levels of government have all increased their spending in order to save the whales/planet/universe and the one thing not included in the official inflation rate is taxation. I know a guy with a brand new, in the box M78 in x39, I offered him $6K 10 years ago, he turned it down. It isn't for sale, neither are any of the mags.
