I've got a problem with Browning

Browning isn't a gun maker, they're a marketing panel- they stick their stamp on other makers guns, and call them a 'Browning'. Browning to me today means nothing other than they were able to market me a rifle they didn't even make emblazoned with their logo and in a box bearing their name. A common enough occurence in the industry, but it looks pretty hoky beside makers that actually build their guns, Ruger for instance, especially when you're trying to get ahold of a spare part as 'Browning' parts can come from anywhere of three continents and a dozen manufacturers. I'm sure that's where the reluctance stems from on getting a grip cap for this rifle.

The Superposed is the last survivor of the shift from a firearms manufacturer to a firearms marketer. I am perhaps bitter as they used to be one of the best. Sorry for the hijack, but it is a 'I've got a problem with Browning' thread.

Be prepared to wait a long time for service from Browning. My friend bought a new a-bolt .243 and it would not load cartridges from the mag (not the sort of thing you would check in store) Sent it to Quebec for service, 6 months later it works but it came back with a big dent in the bottom of the grip like it was dropped (wood stock) or hit with a hammer.

I don't think he is going to send it away for another 6 months.

Couldn't they just give you the plastic cap from a synthetic stock, you can stick it on your stock, they can keep the now broken synthetic stock, and can stick Browning with the synthetic stock for warranty? Browning doesn't have to know that the cap on the stock they gave to you came off to replace your original. I know some car and truck dealers do this sorta thing. If they value customers, they will claim off warranty repairs on one of their own courtesy vehicles.

In your situation, it might be kinda sneaky, but everyone kinda gets what they deserve; even the dealer, if you never deal with them again.

I'm resurrecting this thread because there was a request for an update.

Pud at Bashaw Sports was able to locate a replacement carbon fiber stock for me in the US last November. He said it would take about a month for it to arrive at his shop. Near the end of November I sent him my rifle.

Before Christmas I called and spoke with Pud. He told me that he did receive my rifle in the mail, and the replacement stock had also arrived.

I said that's great, so I should have my rifle early in the new year. He said I'd easily have it some time in January.

February 7th I sent him an email asking for an update. He replied that he hasn't looked at it yet, but hoped to in the next week or so.

So, now it's the 21st. I just sent him another request for an update on his progress [or lack thereof]. I'm not too optomistic.

So that's the way this story has been turning out. I, theortically, have a replacement factory stock, and it's sitting fairly close to my rifle, but I just need to wait for Pud at Bashaw to find the time and inclination to put the two together and send it to me.

I've dealt with Bashaw before, but after reading this, I'll likely not anymore.

Good grief, he's only got to remove a couple screws and change the stock. Maybe its beyond his skills...
