IWI CSR18 Carmel non restricted rifle with 18.6” Barrel

I watched part of this Carmel video that interested me. Here are my takes:

1) Like the Makasi - this Camel handguard is NOT designed to be taken on and off for the heck of it and after every single range trip that fires 50 rounds. I personally will not take this hand guard off and ritually clean the gas system for ADHD reason. Think this is a commercialization decision - a military version will not tolerate anything that needs users operating 3 little screws to remove - especially for Latin american and indian users. There is no need to take apart the gas system all the time, but people will be tempted to do it all the time.

2) The push rod has another bridge pinned to the barrel for guiding and retaining the recoils spine, instead of a completely captive push rod spring assembly from the barrel. This reminds me of the old Magpul / Bushmaster ACR somewhat. The question is why -think one of the reasons is probably to make sure if the barrel is off at an angular angle the push rod won't install and therefore create an automatic rejection to the assembler.

3) The gas system is much more KISS and looks like it vents to the front - Compared to the Makasi. It is the standard way of doing gas regulator.

4) I tend to prefer architecture with a well defined receiver of a close and continuous cross section geometry. Something even like Bren 2 with an aluminum fangs sticking out tend not to be my favourite. The plastic and aluminum pieces in my opinion make things complicated. Elon Musk will not approve this, yes it works

interesting. steel receiver in a polymer shell.
and look how the barrel is attached - super solid.

If you have a chance to watch Sootch00’s review,
He took out the rod/ piston without removing the handguard

I think you can clean the gas system without messing with three screws.

Yeah, you 100% can remove the piston without taking off the handguard. The guy in the Prep & press video explicitly said he was taking it off for the purpose of showing how the barrel/gas system assembly looked. You also probably only need to clean the gas system maybe 10 times before rebarrelling anyways (ie every 1k rounds), probably less, to be honest.

What on earth? How did I miss this one? I miss my X95 soooo much, I am so looking forward to getting my pre-order Makasi. Is this is for sale, where can we get one, unless it is special order... At any rate, I can't afford one but I will sell off a bunch of my cope guns to get this...

I don't get this - C21...how are we able to have such cool things pass the RCMP? That said, I won't ask too many questions...where can I get one???

realistically what do you all think is the govt's game here, giving frt for scary black rifles after banning all? to me every semi auto will be on the list so are they just trying to screw us all and the stores by having us order these and then add them in to OIC once we get them all? asking this as someone who spent a fair $ on last rifle and OIC a week after receiving it and never got to range even once....great way for them to hurt retailers and gun owners..
This is an interesting perspective. Sneaky strategy to bankrupt both consumers and retailers...retailers tie up some money in investing in new models and then get stuck with being unable to sell them, and just like before, they have tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in unsellable inventory. Then that discourages them from going in on the next comparable model.

And as for the consumer, we all may know some people who have more or less thrown in the towel on gun ownership after being stuck with tens of thousands of dollars of guns they bought in good faith and now can longer use. The psychological mind games the government plays can achieve their goals of disenfranchising and deincentivizing (sp.) potential buyers, faster than any door to door confiscation can.
