This is one of only 4000 made with a hard nickel finish

I also own a pair of the last PP made.

I think in one or two of the the Pierce Brosnan days of 007, it shows him using a P99, or possibly a SIG. I dont keep up on handguns enough to be able to tell exactly when seeing them, but it definitely wasn't a PPK. I'm think "The World is Not Enough, Tomorrow Never Dies" are the ones I'm thinking of when he is flashing some more updated hardware.

Yeah he "upgraded" to the P99 in tomorrow never dies I believe.

Most James Bond purists agree the PPK is Bonds gun. Yes he did have the Beretta first, but in the movies, the removal of Bonds Beretta was fairly well written. He even tried to sneak out of Ms office with it under the PPK box. M was more observant than Bond anticipated.

On her Majesties Secret Service is still one of, if not my favorite. Bond falls in love, decides to get out of the game, but the bad guys were dumb and instead of letting him forget about them, they try to kill him and take his wife.

In the early 1960s I bought a pre-war 7.65mm PPK, not knowing much about them. I grew to think it was one of the finest designs, and about twenty years ago had the PPK barrel replaced with a barrel from a PP, had it threaded by Gem-Tech, and bought a silencer from them. The gun sounded like a quiet version of a .22 short or maybe a .22 CB with the silencer attached. Had no reason, other than it made the gun a bit more pricey. I sold it in 2006 when I moved to Canada, and I do miss it. I understand the Brits gave up using the Walthers for their royal bodyguards when one of the detail guarding the queen had some sort of problem with his gun. Too bad.

I work at Pinewood Studios and on occasion I am allowed on various sets when the planets are aligned. I am 99% sure Craig does indeed shoot a PPK/S in Skyfall. Bardem and Fiennes (the baddies) use the simple yet effective Glock 17's in most handgun scenes. I know a few of the armorers as we have a pint (or two) once in awhile at the pub within the studios. I can double check with them but I am quite sure it is the PPK/S.

I can try and post some neat photos of the armory staff and their toys in action in the future but need written permission as well as a defined or alloted time after Skyfall is released worldwide. I will however post some interesting photos of some Bond paraphanlia lying around the studio when I get a chance.

Nice, thanks in advance. Are Bapty's still working on the Bond movies?

what!! they never put one in at pinewood here. All we get is coffee off a craft truck and the odd beer from the camera boys at wrap.

Hi Kieran. Yes it's one of the hazards of working in England. You're never 5 minutes from a pint. In my case it's 50 feet down the hall from my office door which requires more self control than I have, especially at the end of the week.
