James Bond's gun

The IMFDB has pretty good info on this film already. There will be alot more pics and whatnot when it is release on DVD/BluRay, but it has to hit theatres first!

In the full length trailer, Q (Ben Whishaw) calls the pistol a "PPK/S nine-millimeter short" and states that the gun is coded to Bond's palm print so that only he could fire it.

Bond used a small handy gun that was enough for his needs.

I suspect your right. Most of James Bonds shooting would be fairly up close and personal, so a bigger gun with a longer barrel would'nt often be necessary.

Also, for that type of work, concealability would be a major factor, and we all know that the PPK is a very concealable gun.

"So you expect me to talk!?"

"NO Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"

This still makes me chuckle.

Again, that's why he kept a long barreled 45 Colt revolver in a secret compartment in the Bentley. When he needed a "real" gun, he had one. - dan

Just watched "Skyfall" and the "Q" dude said it was a "PPK 9mm with circuitry that only you can use".

Concealable but certainly is limited in mag capacity. Most likely just for tradition. I'm sure Walther contributed some money to the movie :stirthepot2:

He killed a lot of people with his underpowered and low capacity pistol (without any noticeable mag changes)... must be the movies.

Saw "Skyfall" yesterday. I predict a boost in sales of the Walther PPs and PPKs.

Today I hauled out my ERMA PPK knock off in .22 LR. Great little gun! I bought it for the serial number - 005###. When I bought it, I told the dealer I wanted 007###. He said - "So did I, but it was taken. 'Sides, 005 means you're a senior agent to 007." :>)

he says 9mm short and ppk/s...

I understand the Brits gave up using the Walthers for their royal bodyguards when one of the detail guarding the queen had some sort of problem with his gun. Too bad.

Yes, they will jam every time you install the recoil spring backward. They never admitted it, but that was the problem with Princess Anne's bodyguards pistol - he put the recoil spring on backward.
