How many people are experiencing jams from stuff entering the receiver? Answer : none.
It all depends on the use you make of it. I agree that the use most people make of those rifles doesn’t call for sealed action/dust covers.
But run the firearm in less than ideal conditions, you may change your mind. I’ve shot matches where it poured rain all day making all our gear muddy and grainy, others where snow and sleet (i believe thats the word for rain that becomes ice on me) and others where we shot close to the ground (modified prone comes to my mind) kicking dust and debris that sometime made it back into actions.
Note: I’m in no way, shape or form ranting against the 180 models offered to us. Wolverines Supply developed a product in Canada, for Canadians and I admire the whole team for their dedication to the firearm culture in Canada. If I could afford one right now, I’d buy one in a heartbeat without hesitation even with the known "gremlins". But the 180 based platform don’t have the R&D and support of the AR15. Still a good gun IMHO.
The ws and wk guns literally eat themselves apart. The only reason people allow them to sell their junk is because people shill for them on this site.
That’s a bold statement coming from someone who joined 2 years ago to attack one, if not, the most involved gun store in Canada who have made so much for our community, often forming it’s own money to fight our battle and placing it’s own head on the line. I’m referring to Mr. Hipwell and the fantastic family business he has build over the years.
I challenge you to produce a firearm and get it right from the start. And I’m talking everything. From designing/re-engineering, production, distribution and warranty. And it has to be as close to 100% made in Canada. I know I can’t and most here can’t. So show a little respect.
Rifles have shortcoming and growing pains, and vendors have been good to make it right, but calling it junk is a bold claim.
I will give you this, I have seen earlier models with some marks that look just like other marks on my other firearms, including the service ones. If it has moving parts, there will be some mechanical machining of parts working together. It happens in stuff that is way more expensive and people don’t lose their sh!t on the internet for it.
