Keltec ? I think you can put a pistol grip on the Fnar?

Thanks, forgot about those. Not many options, plus if they did a build kit, people could re-use some parts from prohibited donors, in a similar manner to the manual action MRA Maverick or Maccabee NRR kits.

Are the bolt and BCG proprietary on these or do they take AR15 bolts and bcg?

The bolt carrier is definitely proprietary, as it rides along 180 style guide rods in concert with recoil springs. The basic takedown follows the firing portion in the J180 YouTube video. Below is the take down in stand alone video.

If the barrels match an AR, then the bolt should be the same as an AR.
Only in a proprietary bolt carrier.

Regardless, the build kits come with bolt and BCG.

Not necessarily. Ws/Wk use AR barrels but have a proprietary bolt.

Stills from the JARD YouTube takedown video for comparison:

All good.
Where are you finding details on build kits and importers?

I have PMed Sylvestre Sports, and received their permission to spread the word they will be distributing the Jard J180. Jard previously mentioned on a now removed thread their distributor would release both complete rifles and build kits.

Sylvestre indicated they would announce a pre order when they had their "ducks in row".

I asked Sylvestre about a 7.62x39mm variant of the rifle, which is mentioned as one of the ammo types in the build kit description. They said they were in the prototype phase of building complete rifles, focussing on accuracy, but planning to try and get the rifle to eat any available ammo.

The details of the builder kit can be found at the following link : https://jardinc.com/j180-builder-kit.html

I am looking forward to this. I was and still am hopeful of the MCR to evolve a bit further as I feel it has potential. Was trying to talk ATRS into building an upper for it all gucci the way only they could do.

Having the MCR in a more refined form would indeed be ideal, since it seems to be quite dependable in its current form. It's the dependable Honda, but Some customers want a Lexus.

Whether the Jard J180 is a Lada, Honda, or Ferrari remains to be seen :p

This rifle has been out there for awhile. Hopefully they have refined and corrected any issues to excel the chunky scrap metal glued 180s we have.

The ws and wk guns literally eat themselves apart. The only reason people allow them to sell their junk is because people shill for them on this site.

preferably a Honda.

i have an early WK that had to have the bolt and carrier replaced. Kodiak was fantastic about it! since then i have had zero issues! not sure why the bolt broke a lug off but, i do know the carriers where treated wrong and it weakened them instead of making them harder.. stuff happens. pretty sure all the issues are sorted now? i personally haven’t seen any complaints about the newer ones?

How many people are experiencing jams from stuff entering the receiver? Answer : none.

It all depends on the use you make of it. I agree that the use most people make of those rifles doesn’t call for sealed action/dust covers.

But run the firearm in less than ideal conditions, you may change your mind. I’ve shot matches where it poured rain all day making all our gear muddy and grainy, others where snow and sleet (i believe thats the word for rain that becomes ice on me) and others where we shot close to the ground (modified prone comes to my mind) kicking dust and debris that sometime made it back into actions.

Note: I’m in no way, shape or form ranting against the 180 models offered to us. Wolverines Supply developed a product in Canada, for Canadians and I admire the whole team for their dedication to the firearm culture in Canada. If I could afford one right now, I’d buy one in a heartbeat without hesitation even with the known "gremlins". But the 180 based platform don’t have the R&D and support of the AR15. Still a good gun IMHO.

That’s a bold statement coming from someone who joined 2 years ago to attack one, if not, the most involved gun store in Canada who have made so much for our community, often forming it’s own money to fight our battle and placing it’s own head on the line. I’m referring to Mr. Hipwell and the fantastic family business he has build over the years.

I challenge you to produce a firearm and get it right from the start. And I’m talking everything. From designing/re-engineering, production, distribution and warranty. And it has to be as close to 100% made in Canada. I know I can’t and most here can’t. So show a little respect.

Rifles have shortcoming and growing pains, and vendors have been good to make it right, but calling it junk is a bold claim.

I will give you this, I have seen earlier models with some marks that look just like other marks on my other firearms, including the service ones. If it has moving parts, there will be some mechanical machining of parts working together. It happens in stuff that is way more expensive and people don’t lose their sh!t on the internet for it.
