As mentioned by steppenwolf mods are not allowed to moderate a dealers forum . John could lock/delete a thread but cant infract or ban , I think he should be given the power to ban members from his forum only, just imagine marstar forum is a store where he can decide who he doesnt want in his store.

John, ask cgn admin for that power to ban.

A big reason why this site has so many issues. The mods here need to be more active. I would not let any of the bashing happen on the forum that I am currently admin of. Discussion is one thing but 10+ pages of arguing and name calling shouldnt happen. I would have told both parties to take it to PM and locked the thread.

yes but an admin should be able to. After all, they are responsible for what goes on in the entire forum. I am not a part of the admin structure on this forum nor do I know how to handle a forum of this size. (mine only has 816 members with 5 supporting vendors) so its not my place to comment any more than I already have LOL, anyways this is getting off topic my bad.

These threads are addictive. Was gonna watch a show but ended up reading this thread.

Thanks John for leaving these threads open.

Can't say I blame Marstar. Never dealt with them but CGN is rapidly turning into a peanut gallery or as I've heard it described..."reddit for gun owners". Just look how many big time posters have gone quiet, silent or actually left in the last year or two . There is still the odd gem of good info or lively discussion but this site is a shadow of what it once was. I'm actually surprised more sponsors haven't left.

Thank goodness there are still other options for Canadian Gun Owners on the internet. You are absolutely right

Is it because they were infracted or even banned for dubious reasons?

Agreed. Some people seem to have an upside down idea of how this forum should work. The forum exists for users not the other way around. Paying doesn't give you rights or control, it gives you access. That's it.

Pardon me? Paying for HIS portion of the forum shouldnt allow HIM to have RIGHTS OR CONTROLS? *woosh*, I think common sense just ran past you.

The forum exists for the users, PAID FOR BY the sponsors. Without the sponsors, we dont have this; but without the forum, the stores still have customers (this is just a great way to market to a large crowd with ease).

uhhh.....ok. So Marstar leaves CGN. so what? Its not like anyone here doesnt know how to find his website. If they want to order from him just go there. All this whining and tearing up over nothing makes no sense!

Agreed. As a sponsor of the forum you should have certain powers that others don't have. Police are allowed to run red lights even though it's against the law because they are "sponsors" of our safety. If I paid to have this site running I better get something for it otherwise you allow for off topic discussion and abuse of the forum system. This may be a forum but there has to be censorship otherwise it might as well be a giant gong show. Anyways, I will now watch the Finland vs. USA match for the bronze. It should pretty good.

My company has been in business since 1974 we have never been on the internet and we do just fine. Marstar will be just fine.
Our company has been in business since 1971. We get 100% of our sales enquiries online through our website. We have grown 1000% or more in the last 5 years. Get a website my friend and retire early. :D

Good advice, not sure why a good website is not number one on most small bushiness priority lists..

Many of them were yes. Others have simply faded back into the shadows. I know one of the more popular and higher posting members personally (I'll withhold the name for privacy). He was well respected on here and very few of his posts were fluff. He has since stopped posting and visiting this site due to the total gong show it has become. He now posts on the other site, the name of which by the way has been censored here.

Look at member post counts. In the old days, the members with counts in the hundreds and thousands and who had been around for a couple years outnumbered the "newbies" and posted regularly. Now, if I see someone in a thread with a join date previous to 2011 or 2012 and a post count above 500 I'm honestly surprised. It's only when a long time dealer or member is involved in the thread when the "old guard" so to speak tend to make themselves known.

Heck, I rarely post outside of OT here anymore and my browsing of the other sub-forums takes about 10 minutes because there is not often something new. It's the same old topics being beaten to death and people arguing and name calling. The civility and community feeling of this site has degraded severely. Every now and then in the local gun shop or at the range CGN comes up in conversation, and more often than not I here people laugh and say something to the effect "yeah, nutz is a good name for the site". That is really too bad as this site was once a powerhouse and a place to be a part of the shooting community. I really enjoyed me first years here and I still like alot of the occasional posts the "older" members make. Unfortunately, this site doesn't offer much more than that and the raucous way it's run and managed make it difficult to stay for long. There are other sites for Canadian shooters that offer a more organized, community type atmosphere.

Anyways. Off the tangent, I don't think John and Marstar are leaving CGN solely because of the naysayers. I think they're leaving because of the dog eat dog, throw your fellow shooter under the bus mentality this site has become, both through it's membership and it's management.
