No monthly purchases-thread this month?

Didn't get a Surplus-rifle for a year, till my soon to me brother in law gave me a call that he has this real nice Schmidt-Rubin Karabiner 31 that he wants to get rid off.

So I went and got it.

It came with a bajonett and cleaning kit. Didn't yet have the chance to shoot it unfortunately.

Nice k31. Can you ship us canuck's some ammo? Despite my best efforts to avoid mosins, I have picked up a p-27(walnut stock), vkt m91, finned(double stack sight too)91/30, & a hopefully mint bore m39. Pics soon(I hope). See what happens when you go off your meds?

very cool, was it purchased by him or was it issued to someone in his family? ahhh switzerland :)

whose wood is that? Boyds? Looks oversized everywhere. I assume you built her up? It's not a likely or usual combo to see Danish-issue Breda bits mixed with 7.62 NATO National Match parts, but it sure is pretty.

Yes you're correct she is a Boyd's stock. I'm not too fond of Boyds timber in comparison to issued GI wood. It works but fat stocks don't do a lot for me.
They work fine and the wood quality is usually good but I prefer slimer profile wood.

No I did not build her up - I don't think I could personally do this to a milspec garand without feeling haunted at night. I'm not quite sure what you're ferring to regarding the Breda parts. Very well could be some Danish parts built in. All of the maerkings I have seen are Winchester stamped. Certainly this rifle is probably assembled in someone's shop. A nice professional job though.

Weapon Sight, Infra-red, No. 9903

First time posting here, found this yesterday...Have not cleaned it up yet. Does any one have info on these?
What is the small mounting bracket for in the middle of the case?

Richard, from what I can see in your pics, the bolt is Harington & Richardson and the gas cylinder lock looks to be a BMB breda part. Winchester also never made NM parts, most are either Springfield or from a Remington parts contract in the 60's.

Some guys have good luck thinning the boyds wood, but you need serious wood working skills to pull it off. Out of the box, it's even fatter than original NM wood.

EDIT: On closer inspection, it IS a Winchester bolt. The trigger guard though is not, all Winchester guards were milled. Also the rear sight parts aren't. If I recall, all Winchester sights were of the lockbar or earlier types.

I actually got this some time back..it is the 100 round bren drum. I also have the winder tool and the adapter to mount it onto the Bren gun. (I need the holding tool if any one has one to spare)

But I just got this yesterday. It came from a fellow who had just bought a couple of the 4 drum chests ( I have a couple of those too.)

It is the packing slip for the chests from Kalvinator of Canada. This is the same company that made many, many Cdn sten mags during the war, as evidenced by the KC marking on them.

The sten mags seem to have survived the years in quantity, but where did all the Bren drums go?

I've got 2 sporterized Lee Enfields lined up. 1 i get wednesday next week, and the other I'll probably pick up early next week. I'll post pics when i get them. i'm pretty excited for these.

Got a C broad arrow marked 1917 SSA SMLE Mk.III*. It's obviously been rebuilt and I plan on replacing that Lithgow nose cap, but otherwise I like it - the bolt and receiver match, the wood is Enfield-cartouched, and it has a long butt. I'm not sure what MSG stands for, any ideas?

In my many army-related travels these past two months I've managed to visit quite a few good gunshops throughout the country, and its left me with a good haul of ammo as well, including a very good haul of 9mm Steyr. I also finally managed to pick up a copy of Skennerton's The Lee-Enfield.
