I have been checking the CFC website every day for the last two weeks and today I got the good news. Hopefully I get my license in the mail before next weekend so I can go to the HMCS gun show on the 12th.

Application Received on: 2008/08/13

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Edit: I noticed this my 100th post and I am now a CGN regular. Very appropriate.

My status on the website is completed initial processing, i have yet to be contacted (i doubt they will, since i'm asking for service in french) Does that mean the license is ready to be issued or it's just bollocks?

License received! WooHoo! My application was received by CFC on Sept 2, approved Sept 30, mailed on Oct 2. One week to the day for mailing! Not as long a wait as I imagined.

Mailed my Application on Sept 16th. Called the Alberta CFO today, she processed it while I was on the phone. Should get it in 2 weeks or so from today. 6 or so weeks in total.

i checked my status on the website and it gave me the completed intial proces stuff.. ive been contacted and so have my references... i just checked the site again and it now says "We do not have any information that matches this data. If the data is correct please check your application status again at a later date." .... how is this possible a couple days ago it said completed initial w/e .... and yes i checked my info about 30 times to make sure it correct but still nothing... anyone can help me figure this out? it would be apreciated
Thanks

Short turnaround time for Ontario RPAL (12-6) renewal

About a week for a RPAL (12-6) renewal.

I was amazed at the short turnaround time.

I believe the statutory miimum is 28 days for an initial application.

Life Memberships: NRA, GOA, CSSA, NFA, OFAH
CCW Permits: Utah, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maine

Did you guys send in your course/test reports as well? I'm waiting on the RPAL course report, but I was wondering if I could send in the application anyway.

Just doing whatever it takes to get this process done with.

Done and done. :runaway:

I figured on waiting. I have my non-restricted papers back, but waiting on the restricted.

Reason I was wondering was because I saw a box saying 'proof attached'. Made me think it was not mandatory (maybe the local CFO sends it to NB).

Thanks for the info!! Time to sit on my hands.

Took me about 2 months for renewal

My renewal took about 2 months. My present PAL expires in May 2009. I sent the form in around August, then called about a month later to see where it was in the mill. I was told that they give priority to processing renewals for permits that will expire in 2 months or less.

While I object to the whole silly process, I do agree that they should deal with soon-to-expire PALs first. I definitely don't want them using even more of my tax dollars to hire any more personnel.

I finally got my new PAL in late September. They did call my wife about 2 weeks before, to see if I was some kind of a nut. I was there when she got the call. She sounded very nonplussed as she answered, obviously wondering why on earth they were snooping into our personal affairs: "Yes...Yes, I know that...Yes, I knew that, too...Yes, he has them here in the house...No, it doesn't bother me at all...No, I don't mind...Is that why you called?...No, no problems at all." Then she hung up and turned to me with a puzzled expression, saying, "That was the RCMP. They wondered if I objected to your going shooting."

Now I have 2 PALs for the next 6 months. I'm wondering if I can work a deal with some Somalian pirates, Sri Lankan terrorists, Al Quaeda, or a local street gang, to equip them with war materiel, using my old PAL. It's still valid, and must be good for something, now that the government is satisfied that I, a 71-year-old veteran and retired psychologist, do not represent a threat to the Queen's peace.

Good God Almighty, what a fornicating waste of time and money! If the Government had been that careful about the securities market, we'd all be millionaires, not just the politicians!

In the class that I was at in October the instructors advised 6 months. Apparently they sometimes take their time & all of a sudden you become a criminal if they don't have it renewed in time... Ouch! Might be overkill, but I'm thinking I'll take their word for it...

its been 4 months I have called the local CFO office a few times. they wrote an "e-mail" to the cfo twice now but still nothing. supposedly waiting for my police file on an incident I was involved in but the police realized they were about to charge the wrong person so I didn't even get charged. Anyone know how I can possibly speed this up?

My RPAL upgrade has been in the system for over a month now and still no reference calls. I called the CFC 1800 number and was told exactly the same thing as it says on the website "in progress" and the lady was a little snotty to say the least! Does that mean its at the provincial CFO office or not yet, anyone know?
