I'm not sure if this theory holds any water but my CFSC instructor advised us that the best way to pay for your application is with a money order made out to the receiver general of Canada because it's as good as cash. His theory was that if you pay via check or credit card what has to happen is your application is opened and processed, then it gets put in a wait pile as they have to wait for check/payment to clear and get confirmation back from the receiver general before anything else can happen with the application. Apparently the money order cuts all this out and can take significant time off the process.
