K31

Dropped by the CSC and checked a few out. While still worth every penny, I am so glad I got in early on their last shipment when they were $250 and cherry picked. The ones they had on the rack all had similar finish to the last crop but bores at 7.54, priced at 4-5 hundred. Like I said though, still a lot of rifle for the money.

Actually we received several Hammerli and WF barreled guns. These barrels typically measured 7.54mm as new.

Has anyone found where to buy the stock plate adapter yet? I love this rifle but its too short for me!

Is this the short slip-on adapter by Swiss Products that I've seen online or is this something else? I feel like I'm in the same boat - I'd like to add just a bit more length.

EDIT: to my K31...

Not a slip on. it a plate of plastic, flat on one side for the recoil pad, and curved to fit the curve of the K31 stock once the metal butt plate is removed.
Recoil pad not included and recoil pad still had to be ground down to fit the stock contours.

Canvas one is good hot days and not as stiff not to mention cheaper. Leather is better for longer distance and if you need the extra support.

I don't want to hijack this thread talking about shooting jackets so if someone can point me to a thread that's already dealt with the topic I'd really appreciate it. You know, I did a couple of Google and Youtube searches and I couldn't find a ton of info (other than the sites mentioned by beltfed and diopter). My interest is piqued though...

Canvas is actually better than leather in that it does not stretch. The Cordura ones are apparently more of a sweat bath in the summer but I doubt it makes much difference. Check out Kurt Thune. They are probably the best technical coat especially if you want one for prone only. What they sell will be ISU compliant but if you are shooting only DCRA or NRAUSA or NRAUK matches one of the NRA coats from the USA will meet the rules. You can also try Cibles Canada, I think he usually has off the rack in stock, better with a custom made coat however. They have a chart for you to fill out to get the sizing right for shooting, definitely not for general wear, you only put them on when actiually shooting, too uncomfortable otherwise and really not warm if it's cold outside. In the summer the way to deal with them is right after the shoot take if off and drop it open in the sun to dry, do the same with your sweat shirt and a lot of guys are wearing sweat absorbing hi tech T shirts now. It feeeels sooooooooo good when you take them off on a 30 degree day. The main reason to go to Bisley is to pick up a British bar towel to wipe your face between shots.

Forgot to mention that if you want a real single point target sling it should be synthetic and not leather. They stretch like a bugger in the rain and humidity.

I thought I'd bump this up to the top as I just found another in pretty decent nick at Wholesale Sports in Calgary.
They have their remaining rifles (around 10 or so) marked down to $299.
there isn't a better deal for quality milsurps out there, so get 'em before they're gone.

Thanks beltfed. I went down and picked one up this afternoon and I'm very happy with it: a 1945 gun with a very good bore, light wear and a decent walnut stock. I handled several while I was there and they were all decent examples - real bargains at that price. With my 1939 I now have WWII bookend K31's and this one had a name tag under the buttstock plate!
