I'm glad you like it sir. However as others you probably didn't read the first post of this thread. Which states how bad k98 sights are. My suggestion was to learn to shoot by instinct. without using the sights.
Take it as you wish, but if you look at any video of modern combat all what soldiers are doing are mag dumps in perceived enemy direction, to keep enemy suppressed and pinned down.
Then look at some US cops videos where they do mag dumps with their glocks behind the cars or through windshields when chasing suspects.
Let me ask you a question, are they using their sights?
I'm not saying they don't aim, its instinctive shooting.
Armies change and they do fight differently now than in WW2. And OP can practice and hone this skill as well with his k98.
You should work in acquisition for our army, all those Elcan optics we spent money on...just not necessary in the majority of engagements!
Also this "perceived enemy direction" thing you have to get away from this. Every serviceman is taught to appropriately confirm what is their target, what's beyond their target etc unless it's some poorly disciplined conscript mess of an army or some rebels (perhaps you should lay off the videos of ISIS fighters randomly firing belt fed machine guns into the ether...).
"Instinctual" shooting works within 7 meters or less, which is the most common self defense shooting distance. If you've trained to use the sights of a weapon enough, you will indeed naturally bring the sights up and naturally have the proper sight picture to fire the weapon with some degree of accuracy, however this would require a high degree of proficiency with the sights of the weapon.
There are no jedi tricks here. There is blind firing (what you are suggesting) or there is accurate, deliberate fire.
I guarantee you soldiers (I know this from experience) and police are trained to utilize every tool they have to protect themselves.
Also I'm not trying to be insulting I think maybe you just don't actually know and that is okay.
tl;dr K98 sights do kind of suck
May I suggest using the front hood for the front post? I found that helped me a lot and I've shot my Mausers in competition before.
