Kel-Tec RDB Bullpup: My First Impressions

The prices will go up...according to you.

And rumors has it that the tavor might be coming out with a 308win. Maybe TVPP has more info on this.
I haven't been wrong yet or lost money on rifles that are discontinued, this one being 308 opens it up to a lot more buyers in the hunting crowd.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that rumour, just fanboys making chatter.

Desert tech MDR is probably the only one putting out a bullpup with caliber options but that is still years away with the current lab waits.

You wont loose money on a discontinued rifle, but you certainty wont double your money.
Why spend a lot more money (double the price) on a discontinued rifle while a newer rifle will take its place in 1 or 2 years?

There was rumor of tavor making 9mm before the 9mm conversion came out. And now they do make 9mm conversion kit in the States. Not sure if the conversion kit will ever make it to Canada tho.

Id expect the price around the same price as the rfb. The rfb is a great gun. Shoots really well.

RFB is selling around $2000 to $2500?

because just like how the RFB might be discontinued, the RDB might become available a 2 or so years later in 308, all speculation at this point. The sale price if it gets discontinued will depend on the buyer and what they believe may or may not happen at the time they are looking to buy. An item is worth what a buyer is willing to pay, not what you, I or this forum believe is fair market value.

I am not going to lie. This rifle has my interest. I think I will pick one up assuming it is Non-Restricted when it lands. I don't think I would trust it with my life with it immediately, as it has not had the time to prove itself as a dependable design. I also dislike the lack of ability to check the chamber without cradling it like a baby.

Yep, around $2450.

The long bolt travel should contribute to reliability and reduce felt recoil. If it's timed right, the return of the bolt carrier group will help settle the rifle back into place.

I'm really curious to try one.

Interesting but too pricey. It is Kel-Tec after all. Gotta expect it to blow up and/or fall apart in your hands

And with that...

Oh how I hope you are being sarcastic. Kel-tec has made some cheaply and poorly designed polymer firearms, but they're a serious company producing quality products when you start talking about the more high grade firearms they now produce. The KSG and RFB were turning points for the out look on Kel-tec's future, and I firmly believe the RDB will be another step in the right direction. People need to move past thier prejudices and accept the company for what it is currently, not what it was previously.

^^^^^^I agree, I just happen to own 2 KSG's and really beat them up when using them and they haven't faltered in any way. I do realize they have had their share of problems but give them credit they at least are innovative and always pushing the frontiers of design.

does/can anyone really expect quality when it comes to the cheapest product lines any manufacturer produces? I know I don't.

If the price is right and it is a 1 moa gun, I'm definitely in for one.

The current non restricted black guns don't appeal to me much, I find the xcr a little odd looking with its barrel sticking way too long past the rail. The Tavor is nice but from what I've read, it doesn't look to be very accurate...maybe with specific types of ammunition but it doesn't seems to be consistent...but maybe I'm wrong, I've not had the chance to shoot one.

I've set up a call with Kel Tec for this weekend to talk about the RDB and "in the chamber malfunctions."

They say they've got some tips and tricks on how to deal with potential stoppages.

So it's something they're thinking about ... I'll update when I know more.

If you expect to see constant 1 MOA groups from a semi auto bullpup rifle, you never will. If you expect a constant 1 MOA from 95% of the black rifles out there, your smoking crack. If you want a 1 MOA gun, buy a bolt action rifle. These Kel-tec rifles will be as accurate as the rest of the black rifles out there if not worse.
