Could it be a mag problem?
could be but it happened with 3 new Beretta mags...
Could it be a mag problem?
I stopped shooting mine after the frame cracked from firing and warranty cost me $250 from wolverine to replace the gun
It was 2months old and less than 200 fired of 147gr fmj factory. Cracked at plastic hinge
The lifetime warranty applies for as long as the original owner retains it.
Emailed kel-tec and received a response today regarding the warranty of kel-tec products.
I did infom them in the email that i am a Canadian owner of the SU-16.
Not cranky, just sick of the same old posts over and over from people saying it's not worth $600 and they don't like the sights. Try doing a little research before you buy something so you know what your getting before you throw down your cash. $600 is nothing and for me this little carbine has paid itself off in the fun I've had with it riding around on the quad unloading 10 round mags in the bush. If you have unrealistic expectations you will always be let down.
Since the stores still can't keep them on the shelves I guess they are worth $600 and the sights may not be the best but they work well enough to hit pretty much anything you point it at within 100yds. What else do they need to do? It's a 9mm, it only needs to be able to shoot to 100yds and it's awesome at 50yds. If you want better sights and more steel instead of polymer it's gonna raise the price and the weight. If you don't care about it folding throw a quadrail on it and a red dot.
Everyone I've let shoot mine has had a huge grin on their face afterward and has burned through more of my ammo than I intended to let them go through in such a short amount of time.
It does exactly what it was designed to do and more. If you buy it expecting to get a non restricted AR-15 in 9mm then of course you will be dissappointed.
It's the same as the guys that buy the RFB and then say for $2400 it should be sub MOA with any ammo. That's just rediculous. A chrome lined barrel in a semi auto battle rifle carbine bullpup package is never going to be sub MOA. You want sub MOA from a semi auto 308 buy a $3000 AR-10 or spend a fortune on a Springfield and send it to a gunsmith for tuning.
A fellow at the range brought his brand new, just-purchased, Sub 2000 in 9mm with Glock magazine to the range. I watched him unfold it, load his magazine with an outrageously amount of cartridges, all ten of them, and commence shooting. Stoppage after a few rounds. The cases were filthy black and dinged up at the mouth. Some were sliced at the mouth. Then the plastic receiver inside and to the front of the ejection port was chipped in many places.
Something is amiss with these products.
I have shot them and like them. But, I will not buy them at Canadian pricing, nor will I buy them due to the refusal of the importer to honour the warranty. The fellow who had to pay $250 to get a replacement, well it would not surprise me if that was the actual price to the wholesaler but I am just guessing.
Even in that one year period the warranty might be BS. I have a PMR 30 with the original fluted barrel. Every owner is entitled to a replacement just by asking if you live in the U.S. I asked my dealer and the Canadian distributor about it and they first suggested that all Canadian PMR-30s already have the new barrel. When I sent photos, nothing happened. I have since asked about buying the new extended barrel with the small flash hider. Nothing but crickets. Just my experience. To get back on topic a bit more, I love the Sub 2000 for what it is. I had my name on a list but it came in at a time when I couldn't spare the $600.00. It was fine with the dealer as there was really high demand. Now, I have other priorities. I'll still get one some day.My only issue with Keltec in Canada is why don't we get the lifetime warranty? One year is total BS when our cousins down south get a lifetime warranty.
