The last part is true part ...the part of how far a commercially licensed pest removal company is legally allowed to move vermin from ones property.
Locally here in CZBB The Orcin Man is only allowed to move them to another green space less than 2kms or there about from where the vermin has been trapped.
Burns Bogg is just on the outskirt and not legally viable.
So local city park...

Had this issue. Without admitting anything a subsonic .22 LR inside of 10 ft will drop a coon in a single shot if you can hit center mas lung. Still without admitting anything if its a mother and has babys the baby dead or alive can be used as bait in a trap that is guaranteed to catch the mother. The remaining kittens can be removed with gloves and dispatched humanly. To be clear I would never kill an animal until it has entered my residents and caused damage. They will return generation after generation if not resolved effectively.

Live trap it. Carry trap indoors. Kill it in the trap with a careful, quiet shot from a .22 rimfire. Bury it on the property somewhere.
Don't anyone say something stupid about breaking municipal laws.
 
If you own an AR then no problem you are now a criminal which means anything goes.
I don’t think the conibear is a good idea because you may catch someone’s cat.
Live trap then drop it in 40gal drum of rain water. Then I throw them at the bottom of the green bin.
And if anyone from the garbage truck guy sees it when dumping then I would act surprised and blame your a-hole neighbor trying to screw you again. Your only guilty when you admit your guilty.

I do nuisance animal control, use the live trap and be aware that you have a duty of care for the animal once caught. You feed and water it and protect from the elrments. You cannot take it more than 1km from where it's caught. The issue at this time is young. If you remove the mother and leave the young, the house will stink. You will have to get up and repair the damage anyway and be liable for it all. Have her call in a company that does removal and repair, not Gates!

That's about the stupidest Law I ever heard of and just as stupid a way of dealing with it. Time for that 30 megaton air burst over Toronto. :( Betting this 1km. release rule is good for your business. :):)

It is nice that you want to help out your landlady but with the regulations and climate we find ourselves in, and particularly since you are in the GTA, your best option is to have her call a pest removal company and let them deal with it. All of the scenarios of you dealing with her problem are way more trouble than they are worth imo.

I would have to agree that it’s just not worth it. Especially for someone else. Nice guys finish last unfortunately
 
I am pondering how many of these 1 kilometer maximum releases have made it back to the original site before the bill actually got delivered!

As to the hand wringing and warnings of doom about what rights the coon has, if I were in your area, I'd make sure to deliver any I could to those that want them! :)

But from say, 500 or so meters up, do racoons land on their feet like a cat?

"Well sir, I fed and watered it, made sure it had a pleasant nights rest and we went for a relaxing flight, upon which, I released the racoon, less than a kilometer from home!"

I bet one of them 30 pounder's would make a pretty good dent in a BMW!
