King of the $2K optics?

Hey Malice you like the ''dot'' G4P reticle ?
What do you shoot ?
... skwerl

Ya. It works fine for me. Really it's more reticle than i need or use lol
It's on a 6.5cm with 27" barrel.
I've used it out to 500m so far, 'precision rifle' matches at Petawawa

I have a Bushnell HDMR II, an Apex Rival and an Athlon Ares ETR (glass is on par with a Cronus but will most likely be less reliable).

The Apex is my favorite. Best glass and good eyebox. It's also my favorite reticle. The Athlon is second and Bushnell third.

The new XRS will have better glass than my older Bushnell.

I consider my Apex to be a better scope than a Nightforce scope below the ATARC line. NX8 would be on par if it wasn't for the poor eyebox.

I don't think you can go wrong with any 2k glass from Japan in the end. It is mostly about your choice of reticle.

I have an Ares ETR and Cronus BTR, while the glass is great on the ETR for its price, its no match for the Cronus

Perharps as I have no experience behind a Cronus. Ilya Koshkin had a full matchup between them and glass was about the same according to him (slight edge for the Cronus in low light). The biggest difference is the Cronus being a proven design made by a reputable manufacturer vs the Ares being none of the above.

Sample variance might yield different results.

I shoot an Athlon Ares & Delta Javelin , the Javelin wins out
and has a better reticle.

Next would be a Delta Stryker or Bushy XRS III .

I take it that you like Delta scopes .

Stryker much better than Javelins ?

Not necessarily a delta fanatic. Just felt the javelin was a good value at the time. Ive sold one and have another for sale. I just got the stryker so my experience is limited. I will compare them at the range this weekend. Initial impressions on the stryker are positive

my 'opinion' is that at a certain point the improvements in clarity/resolution/contrast/freedom from flare etc is subject to diminishing returns and very costly. It is reasonable that a lot of attention is paid to the clarity of image .. because that is readily observable... Unfortunately what we dont see is the primary reason we buy a scope .. and that is to securely contain a reticle that provides a dependable and repeatable aiming point and allow for precise adjustment of the reticle to accommodate varying range to target and windage. Personally I would like to see more discussion and evaluation of the mechanical quality and features of scopes

Look at the gear that is thriving at LR rimfire PRS events. One of the most demanding games on the functional aspects of a scope in the FFP world.

Cost of scopes that can podium keep falling in price.
