Kipplauf Club

i can t be anymore in that club but i had a 270 win rsi ruger one that was purchased for chamois hunting but we moved here before the hunt happened. i had too here a baikal or two but i did not keep them.

Yes you forgot the part where you pay for the chamois meat though lol

Croatian chamois hunts are cheaper with flights than most goats I think, plus you fly into Zagreb not Prince George

chamois and croatia something is not right lol ... there are not that much peaks for corsican mufflon let alone chamois lol

^ That’s been my dream for a while. Lots of Swiss and what is now Northern Italian ancestors and relatives, would love to go hunt Chamois in the alps. Probably moving back to BC so stone sheep, caribou and goats will be on the menu instead.

It might just be my google/ foreign language skills but it seems like while the style is Austrian in origin most mass produced guns are coming from Germany and Italy these days.

Anyone know of French makers? How about Swiss?

I know they are into Martini actions and have or had single shot, iron sight and caliber restriction laws for chamois hunting. I see blasers in the required single chambering with no magazine and John wick style cartridge holder in front of the action being used by young guys online.

More interested in KIPPLAUFS though

:dancingbanana:

verney carron and chapuis made some in the past but i do not think it was well received by the purchasers. most people still hunting in the mountain that i know in europe prefer any take down bolt action than a single shot one but they re not elite people lol ...

That Luxus is something else, does it take down?

Optics trade eu might get your mounts to you faster?

Phil do you have a link to any Slovene kjipplaujff makers?

Ive ordered the Merkel mount from wolverine. Since it will be about a year to come in, I also ordered a Merkel Helix Arabesque in 308.

It does take down however it requires a hex wrench and a rubber hammer. It’s not as modular as the Merkel or Blaser.

"Fjudd"? Perfect, lol! :)

I still love #1's and 1885's and Sharps's...but these sleek, light little rifles beat them all to hell as hunters. I have the identical one to the OP's, Haenel 9 but in 7x65r, wearing that same functional but bulky and heavy Teutonic-style scope mount carrying a fixed Leupold 6x.

Someday I will have a 'smith drill/tap the flat top of the chamber area and install a one- or two-piece Weaver base, and then mount that scope in a set of light rings...and it will then be the perfect hunting rifle. Someday...:)

I love the looks of the German/Austrian Kipplaufs. I don’t really feeling dropping $5k at this time but would love to be directed to where I could find one of those wonderful haenal 9s. I love the 7x65R caliber. Jjohnwm, you have the perfect little rig there!!!
I do hunt with a Ruger No 1 in 9.3x74r which shoots outstanding. The extra weight of the number one is needed with the 250gr Accubonds at 2600fps! ;)

Wolverine was selling the model 9's a few years ago, but they no longer show them. I don't know if they are still being made, or imported.

No $5K required, they were selling for just about $2K when last seen.

I had a #1 in 9.3x74r once, foolishly let it go. Still use and love one in .300winmag and another in .45-70, both with the 26-inch barrels which absolutely make those guns. But they are...compared to the Haenel...pigs in the handling department.

Might be worth mentioning that the Haenel, like many other modern Euro singles, is equipped with a de-cocking safety, much like the one seen on the Blaser bolt guns. Activating the "safety" actually decompresses the firing pin spring, making the gun much more confidence-inspiring to carry loaded than a traditional single or double gun. De-activating the safety prior to a shot is in reality re-cocking the spring. Very smart and safe system, and does not impinge upon the cosmetics, functionality or trigger-pull as so many other modern systems do.

I saw what the Haenels used to go for… just can’t find them. I believe Merkel made them in the same factory as their K series. I have read at different online sources they are not making the Haenels anymore. Was hoping someone knew for sure… I’ll be searching the used market if that’s the case. The Merkels are pretty though;)

I've seen them a couple of times on the EE, but never a chambering that interested me. They didn't seem to sell quickly; underappreciated rifles.

A buddy and I drew a Manitoba elk tag this year; I think this rifle will get the nod to go.

Sweet little rifle for sure. Good luck with the hunt.

I really want to do this but I was thinking flat Talley bases? Blanks are out of stock everywhere it seems.

I have a 6x Schmidt and bender hungaria on mine now.

If 7x65r or 7x57r was on the table I would have grabbed it without hesitation. Pretty into the 8x57JRS though.

Yeah, I mentioned the Weaver bases because I have a bunch of steel bases intended for Marlin leverguns, which I purchased because they are so versatile for use on guns like this, i.e. with a nice flat surface on top of the receiver or chamber area. Talleys would be nicer for sure.

And, again coincidentally, I also have a Hungarian-made S&B 6x that I was thinking of using on my Haenel as well, but it is so bulky and heavy that it more or less overpowers the svelte little rifle. Mounted it and removed it without even shooting. The Leupold is much more in keeping with the size and weight of the rifle, balances nicer.

I believe it, I was thinking of trying a kaps 4x but I don’t know the dimensions etc. Also if it ain’t broke, I have other guns that are more deserving of a quality scope.

The 6x Hungarias have some great glass on them, blows that Steiner I initially had on it out of the water.

Have been shooting mine a bit with the factory irons and a 196 grain handloads. If you don’t hold it just right it’s a real cheek slapper but not so bad in the shoulder department for me. Loads approaching max for 8x57 IS loadings.
