Kipplauf Club

I would like to have it in 7x65r since I have quite a bit of ammo, brass and bullets!
A friend of mine went to Texas this past January to hunt whitetails. He used his Anton Sodia Kipplauf 6.5x68R, however he didn't pull the triggers. He also has this deep relief Kipplauf but I cannot remember what it is chamber in or make, possibly the 7x65R.

That rifle looks fantastic!!

Oh, well...the eye of the beholder, and all that...:)

I think that the Haenel is an absolute joy to behold, so light and graceful that it seems almost toylike. The Sabatti is, IMHO, okay, but...the front sight sitting so far back from the muzzle doesn't seem quite right...and what I assume is the fore-end release sticks out the front in a mildly obtrusive way...and that Williams-style rear sight looks like it came off an 870 Express...and that puggish bullnose at the front of the scope-mounting rail is just...nope! :)

I know, I agree with most of it! That is why I ain’t ready to buy any of those two yet! And plus looks like nothing is available in 7x65r in Canada, k5 is a year + wait, it’s at least $5500, Blaser k95 is around $9k….
Anyway, I will keep my eyes open and I will find something!

DGY, what happened to your Bradford?
Bradshaw, how can I say, there was a few things that were off, none of the sling studs were the same sizes, trigger pull was supposed to be 3lbs and it was like 1/2-3/4lbs, the sights were different on the two barrels etc etc! but the major thing was that the 9.3 barrel action fit was pretty sloppy, like quite a bit of play when action was closed! Anyway after waiting 2 years, spending 10k US, I was expecting pretty much perfection and unfortunately it wasn’t. So it is going back to Texas!

Sorry to hear. That's a kick in the boys after such a long wait. Had something similar happen last year (albeit my rifle was half the cost). It soured me on custom rifles for the time being.

And I’m not sure I’m ready to wait for a year plus for a rifle either, I think I will try hard to find something used!

Ok, here is what I found, it was available, it was in my price bracket, the wood is good, the receiver is the arabesque that I like, the length of pull is right where I like it at 14 3/8”! The trigger is really nice, it is in 30-06, I know it is boring, not a rimmed cartridge but I know the cartridge well, I have lots of reloading supplies for it and it is legal for everything up here! I’m planing to shoot 160-165gn bullets in it! I bought a Leupold VX3HD 3.5-10x40mm and I’m waiting for the set of mount(specific to Merkel system) to show up to be able to put it all together!! Nice gun.

I'm not much for engraving but tasteful arabesque is always nice.

Can't go wrong with 30-06 either, sight in those irons with 220s while you wait on your mount from opticstrade

I came close to buying a similar Anton Sodia from Ralf Martini, but the price was just too rich for me at that time. It sold of course and I regretted not buying it. It was chambered in 7x65R.

The Calgary Shooting Center had one for sale in a 6.5x57R however, cannot recall if it was an Anton Sodia. It was either a Austrian or German gun maker, manufactured in the 1970's. It was worth the $5000 they were asking for, nice wood, bullet trap, 26" barrel and it was light-in-weight.....................yup, I'm still kicking my butt for not purchasing it!

Indeed, no interest in that from me! 165gn going 2900+fps deliver plenty of felt recoil imo 😂,
I'm shooting 165 grain accubonds out of my 300 H&H, as well. There is enough recoil at 3,100 fps for me.
