Kodiak defence SKS-KD

Why do I even try... I don't know why you don't have an issue with false advertising.

I am trying to help someone, to avoid getting scammed. But hey, if you buy a tacticoool folding SKS bubba special...

I think it's great you're trying to prevent people from getting scammed. However, the description of the rifle clearly states it takes tacticool magazines and that it's an SKS with a bunch of plastic bits all over it. I don't think anyone is getting fooled.

If you think it's legitimate false advertising and that it is unscrupulous business practice to advertise them as "SKS-D" type rifles than you should absolutely take issue with the retailer.

I think the topic sort of changed.

The first posts were about "SKS-D" and to calm people down (who may have thought someone got a whole bunch of SKS-D's in) I posted that it wasn't really a SKS-D.

It may not necessarily be false advertising, but it certainly is click bait, and some unsuspecting person is likely going to buy one, then complain that they got scammed.

That's all im saying.

Hey now, what average gun owner wouldn't be ok with that? Its the same thing right?

For some the SKS D style may mean SKS D for some. Quite an aggressive sales pitch and am sure some will be sold follows by disappointment. On the other hand this D Style might be what a new shooter was looking for or good enough for a day, AK looking SKS.

Most on here would agree, false advertising tricking people on having a Kodiak SKS D "style" for sale.

Caveat emptor.

Yes, its false advertising either way, you're right. I guess people just need to educated themselves on the models. And companies shouldn't lie.

You seem rather interested in commercial SKS variants from a collector's perspective. Why not make a post with all of the commercial models with descriptions and pictures and get a moderator to sticky it? The various "SKS-D" type rifles are no doubt very popular in Canada and few people know the differences between them.

why not just concede you were fighting a losing battle :) It has been really hard even reading this whole thread. An SKS-D is a factory made model. If I put Lambo doors on my Civic I don't advertise it as a Lamborghini. Even if it was a kit car it would be wrong. Same deal. To those who care about facts.. it matters.

Like people using the non-word "irregardless" Enough cretins did it, and now it is becoming accepted.! Next we will be speaking hip-hop

its ya berfday its ya berfday

There is no battle to fight.

As many others have agreed, the term "SKS-D" is a rather blanket term in Canada and is used to refer to a type of rifle more than a specific model. A retailer using that term to advertise that their SKS "model" takes detachable magazines seems reasonable to me, especially considering that the description of said rifle is rather clear and makes no claims of Chinese origin. It's just a matter of opinion and you are free to disagree with me.

A few posters here are obviously impassioned about this and have stated that they want to help warn off potential buyers from being duped. I suggested they raise their concerns with the retailer and if they aren't so bold then perhaps they can educate the buyers they wish to protect as a more passive alternative. That's all.

That's the thing...

SKS-D isn't a blanket term, and many others aren't agreeing with you that it is. In fact the majority here are explaining that it is a term being used incorrectly, and refers to one version of SKS with detachable mags out of a wide variety of SKS that were made for commercial purposes that use detachable mags.

All SKS-D have detachable mags, but not all detachable mag sks are SKS-D.

Using it incorrectly over and over again doesn't make it right.

sorry, SKS-D is not a blanket term, its a specific model and no disclosure of its origin doesn't make it right, its still misleading.

even the pricing, its priced at what a real SKS-D sells for.

There is no battle to fight.

Any pics of this contraption?

No... but I wager they look something like this: (pic from internet)

This is a SKS-D:

I should also add, its quite difficult to find a SKS-D in Canada that hasn't been messed with in some way. To find a true full configuration one, wont be easy. (There was one not too long ago, looked nice, but someone ground off the bayonet lug.)

Dude, your argument is essentially perpetuating stupidity. Most of us want the world to be a smarter place. You are advocating dumbing it down. We're talking firearms not nerf guns, use the correct nomenclature.
