Lanolin Liquid...

I think Acetone is a bit more nasty than alcohol...particularly indoors...

I lube my 44-40 pistol brass, as there are no carbide dies for this. I have also found that a few squirts on my 30 Carbine brass makes for less effort on the progressive press. Even getting a little lube on every third or fourth case helps.

Why not pistol but ok for rifle?

Several people lube the inside of the neck of rifle brass for seating the bullet etc so some after spray there may not hurt, pistol cases are wider and powder / primers can be contaminated by excessive spraying, so I would be careful to not spray directly into pistol cases.

Who lubes pistol brass?

Lubing pistol cases isn't necessary with carbide dies, but it does cut down the effort to size them considerably. I use Hornady One Shot spray for this because it leaves little residue behind, so tumbling afterwards is unnecessary.

The lanolin/alcohol spray will also work, but does leave more residue behind. I use it for rifle cases.

The thick lanolin paste will not easily mix into isopropyl, I have not tried acetone or mh. The liquid lanolin will mix in. The thick paste will still work however, just put a lump in the bottle of alcohol and give it a shake once and a while, eventually enough will mix in to do the job.

redryder i got mine at co-op that has farm supplys, not sure if there is one in Winnipeg, but i am sure you can probably track one down reasonably close.

Thanks Bob, I'll check out a co-op or two next time I'm in Wpg. I have used the liquid lanolin and 90% alcohol but thought I would give the 99% a try.

I looked everywhere locally but found nothing. Went online, looked everywhere, picked out a product and looked again for best prices with shipping. Amazon was my source, but no always. Some items I find Amazon to be one of the highest, so you need to spend the time looking. Yes, I am a cheap bastard also ! :)

Boys, boys, lanolin can be a pain in the butt to find, I use castor oil and I will tell you it works great, cut it with some methyl hydrate spray it on let it "dry" and presto casings are lubed.

Liquid is the way to go if you can find it, paste works but does not dissolve easily. I imagine liquid is somehow refined and the paste is right from the sheep after cleaning.
