LAR-15 30(10) rd Pistol Magazines?

in comparison, Cx4 magazine was designed for a pistol commonly available in Canada. But it was later limited to 5. 3(1)(b) did not apply?

3. (1) Any cartridge magazine
(a) that is capable of containing more than five cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in
(i) a semi-automatic handgun that is not commonly available in Canada,
(ii) a semi-automatic firearm other than a semi-automatic handgun,
(iii) an automatic firearm whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger,
(iv) the firearms of the designs commonly known as the Ingram M10 and M11 pistols, and any variants or modified versions of them, including the Cobray M10 and M11 pistols, the RPB M10, M11 and SM11 pistols and the SWD M10, M11, SM10 and SM11 pistols,
(v) the firearm of the design commonly known as the Partisan Avenger Auto Pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, or
(vi) the firearm of the design commonly known as the UZI pistol, and any variant or modified version of it, including the Micro-UZI pistol; or
(b) that is capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada.

I agree with your piont. But what stops them from doing the same to your magazine as they did to the cx4?

They again set a precedent with the CX4, in our favour. The mag was designed for a pistol, but only it's markings and intended use ("manufactured for") caused it to be limited to 5.

Basically, they are saying "manufactured for" takes precedence over "designed for". Great news.

Will your mags be marked pistol or similar, to be easily identified? Which was requred by the ones questar brought in.
"Because CanAm said so" may not be a valid reason if questioned by police or other agencies. :)

I have a theory about our supposed 'win' with the 10 round mags. It is my belief that the RCMP would rather us have the LAR mags that CAN'T hold 30 rounds, than having a bunch of 5/30's that technically COULD.

It seems like a win, but coupled with import/export changes etc it means an eventual downgrade in total mag cap for 'those evil zombie killers' on GunNutz.

Just a theory rolling around in my empty brain. Don't have a cow, man! :)

I would love to see some 10/30 or 10/32 Steel 9mm ar15 mags ,The demand is there.I don't like the short 10 round 9mm Questar steel mags and the 10/32 plastic 9mm mags are not available anymore.

I am not asking you to believe me, in fact I hope you don't, I am asking you to understand the law, and previous CFC statements.

Good enough for me. If the mags are marked as for a pistol (etc., etc.) I'll have a whole slew for sure.

We are always at the mercy of the authorities, we can only hope to arm ourselves with an understanding of the rules.

I think it should be the other way around (2nd amendment, doesn't it say something about "to protect against Tyranny in Government...". And frankly I don't need to understand the rules (in this case); if the mags are made available to me and I can buy them legally, that is all the understanding I require (in this case).

You the man CanAm..........I havent been this excited since I found my virginity

Must have been a circumcision job gone bad, or did you ask the doctor to throw and extra stitch in her for you.

Where did you leave it?

At Hollywood and Vine in a Dunkin Donuts cup

I hope this isn't a case of letting the cat out of the bag to soon.

If this takes to long, we might see an OIC to change the original ruling.......and everybody gets F-K'D

Since we haven't had an OIC in 15 years, I doubt it. Do you really think that long 10rd mags are really that big a deal to the feds?

Punching these out will fuel not only the purchase of 6-12 magazine, but another AR for me!
