LAR-15 30(10) rd Pistol Magazines?

I see myself picking up a bunch of normal pinned mags on the EE soon.

Oh yeah, I'm in for a few of these LAR too ;)

Were these originally 30 round pistol magazines that have been pinned thus turning them into 10 round pistol mags, or did they only ever hold 10 rounds and just have a longer body or plate inside so that they could never be modified into a 30 rounder?

Hey CanAm, Questar thinks these magazines are "prohibited devices":

Any rebuttal?

Why are you trying to start a conflict between to dealers?

Mark didn't say he 'Thinks' they are prohibited.
He has a ruling that was given to him by the RCMP, until he receives written confirmation that the ruling in regards to 30 round bodies has changed, he will abide by the original ruling.

He thinks
....without some written classification you are begging to be charged and becoming the test case.
:D

I promise I am not trying to start a conflict, in fact I normally stay as far away from controversy as I can, but these LAR mags have really grabbed by attention. I am just trying to get both sides from those who know the most on this topic, namely the two dealers who have made an effort to bring a 10/30 LAR15 mag to market. I wish them both sucess in all that they do. From post #33 it should be clear that I am eager to see this product on the market

And I don't mean to put words in someone's mouth; indeed Mark did not directly say that he "thinks" anything, but honestly, if you can read the following and then tell me the author does not think CanAm's mags are prohibited - you will make a great politician some day

"According to the last communication we had with RCMP/CFC on that topic the 30/10 magazines were classified as "prohibited devices". I hope that CanAm actually got them approved but until someone can show some written confirmation of that from RCMP Tables Section then all I can do is believe what was sent to us by the RCMP in their written classification of our LAR15 10 round magazines, wherein they said that no other design was approved"

CanAm is just going by the rulings and statements already made by the RCMP, and he expects them to honour those rulings and statements. If the magazines are NEWLY manufactured for to be used in a pistol, then they are pistol magazines. Time for us to really stop talking about them and just wait for them to come in and buy mass quantities. I'll be the first one. I was the first retail civilian customer to take possession AND use the LAR15 10 round 223 magazine (reviewed this Questar mag in the CSSA magazine). I'll gladly be the first to take possession of these newly manufactured magazines made specifically for a pistol (and marked as such) that is commonly available in Canada, and will gladly use it proudly and review it for the CSSA magazine.
