Well done! Is that a custom No.1 you’re using?

No, just a rebarreled #1B, 26" Shilen Sendaro taper , 1:9 twist in 280 Remington.
It has a unique rail set up tough, it is actually for a Remington 700, but mounted backwards! It works out to about 25 MOA !
My gunny hates the stock Ruger quarter ribs ( as do we all!) and stumbled onto the combination by accident when trying to figure out a work around for the quarter rib!;)

These things sure are big. I went out with some friends and we ended up getting one. I was using a 9.3x62 with 285gn Norma Oryx bullets. My first shot broke the shoulder and took out part of the aorta upon closer inspection. Backed up by a friend with a .375, we both put a couple more shots into the animal. It dropped 15yds back in the trees. Lots of meat to go around now!

oryx bullet are really underated. thank you for the post.

Got my 2022 archery mule deer on Sept 3. I had a really fun 3 days solo camping in some great mule deer habitat. I was only seeing 3 mature deer the whole time and this guy was one of them. The first and second day were very hot and calm, not a good situation for spot and stalk deer hunting.

The third day I got a bit of a break with some wind and a few degrees cooler temp. I saw this guy at first light, I watched him make his first bed for the day very early. It was in a spot that would have been a low percentage stalk. He only bedded there for about 1.5 hours then moved to a small poplar bluff for his next bed to stay in all day in the shade.

I made a good, fairly quick stalk on him and found him in the poplars just browsing before he bedded down. There was a nice low ditch in this particular bluff I was able to get in and stay low out of his sight. I only had to hand an knee for about 80 yards to get within range. One well placed arrow at 56 yards and he only made a death run for about 40-50 yards. I was greatful for the short recovery as it was already getting quite warm and was expected to get I the mid 30's by noon.

Always been a bucket list hunt for me spot and stalk mule deer good job awesome story

Thanks 45. The color picture is actually quite graphic. He fell with his head a bit downhill so there's a sizeable red puddle in front of his nose in this pic. The black and white doesn't show it.

I got my first white tail yesterday and he’s a dandy. 7x5. I may of peaked, but I hope not haha.19B38493-5F09-4BB8-BF0F-73E20666BFB7.jpg

I've been having a great fall. I got the buck I've been after Friday night. The best part is I had my 10 year old son with me. The buck read the script and came out to the only water source around about an hour before sundown. I made a good 110 yard shot with the muzzleloader and he didn't go far. I do believe its my biggest whitetail to date.

Some beauty bucks so far this year, really like the ones in velvet still. Island blacktail aren’t as big but they definitely make you work for them. Been incredibly hot and dry this year so I’m pretty satisfied with this for early season pre rut buck
