Large Game Pics - Deer, Moose, Bear...

I Shot That Deer near Rail Lake in BC. Its about 1 north of 100mile house. It was my first big trip, we were up there for 10 days on a LEH moose hunt and I saw this guy the morning after we arrived. I had scouted the place out the night before, I saw tons of tracks and sign so I went back there. It snowed 4 inches over night. I went back to the place which was across a swamp, up a ridge, through a clearcut, up another ridge to the highest point I could get. I found his tracks and followed them for about an hour, not really knowing if what i was doing was right, so I sat down tied up my boots again, then I stood up and 150 yards away I saw the slightest movement behind a huge downed log. I popped up and he was looking at me head on through my scope and I couldnt believe the rack and the size. I was so excited and so much adrenalyne going that I decided his chest was a large target. I shot and missed but reloaded in about 2 seconds and my brain had taken over my actions and I placed a perfect shot through his lungs as he turned broadside to me. he took a couple of steps and crumbled dead. Next time I wll try to use a little more patience. He surely could have escaped after that first miss and it woud have be very disappointing.

How do I go about getting him scored? and what is th advantages of that? I am new to this sport so I am unaware of all the procedures.

Thanks for all the kind replies, I am very proud of my first one, even if I do not see another like this It was worth it to get invoved in the sport!

Great deer Rhys! There is no real advantage to getting him scored, it just gives everyone an idea of how big he is and if it makes the minimum score of 175 I think in BC it would go into the record book for the province. With the score you get the gross score and a net score, there are deductions for any differences in the measurements from side to side. The gross score gives you the best representation of what the deer really is in my opinion.

No matter what the score is you have an awesome deer, one to be very proud of foresure. Congrats!

Well my deer was small this year but my Dad shot this nice whitetail last Wednesday.
The picture is crap and does not do it justice. Not much mass but good genetics.
