How do you guys find the recent "French Tickler" equipped SKS compared to earlier Chinese imports? Obviously they're newer and less used (or unissued) but I've heard the machining, finish etc is nicer than on the older ones.

Fair to say? Or six of one, half dozen of the other?

Gonna snag one while they're to be had either way, but figured I'd ask lol

I want an unissued Tickler but I keep hearing about used ones arriving when you think you've purchased a new one. So I thought I'd buy in person. Cabelas had them on sale, all shiny and pretty in the flyer, store had something completely different on the rack.

Ah crap the ones on the racks in the stores are used/rough? That's where I wanted to pick one up from

Before I bought my F-T from Tenda I went to local BP store. Although the pics online were F-Ts the store only had the 'Issued" standard with the Blade bayo. A week ago they were NOT Listed at all on Tenda, but I just checked due to this thread and saw they are now "out"of the "Issued" rifles @ $369, BUT they have some Un-Issued for . . . $ 589.99 - they were only $ 489.99 in the Summer ! And the spam cans of 720 were only $209.99, NOW $ 229.99, up $20 ! BUT it was $239.99 last week ! Their prices have been bouncing around lately. AND I've seen 'some' F-Ts on GP and EE for LESS than $500, tho they may have been shot by the owners. Might be a better deal than BP/Cab than one shot by Chinese Mil ?
Mine was in cosmo, PITA to clean- used Varsol outdoors with a brush, then another hour 'fine cleaning the 'crevices'. The Chrome bore was like a mirror !

Bought mine from G4C when they were on sale, came unfired and in perfect condition. Tolerances were definitely tight. Would definitely recommend them.

Of any Sks, I’d choose the French tickler today. Best barrels, metal finish and bluing in any Sks I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned probably 50 or so Sks’s over the years.

That definitely sounds like confirmation of what I'd heard. Thanks!

At this point I might buy a used one at Cabelas if it means skipping the cleaning....as long as its in decent shape.
I've scrubbed enough cosmo off of enough surplus rifles at this point in my life. Yeah, I know...weird lol.

when it comes to quality of the last three shipments, the french ticklers are the best, followed by the jungle stock and lastly the blade bcos they are refurbs but really well done (if it wasnt for the beat up stock, it kinda hard to tell if you are a newby to chinese SKS).

Just an addendum on the F-Ts - The one I got from Tenda back in July was a '24-Million' serial number, which indicates it was 1980 production series. 1956 plus 24-M = 1980.
