Lathe size

Yes, Canadian made. Perhaps the most common is the 11" Utilathe. Often used in school shops, and sold off when schools abandoned practical education. Mine is a 1340, 13"" swing, 40 inch centers. Years go I saw a really nice 16".

What was the bore size on the 11" Utilathe?

Newer than mine. Cabinet base, vs 2 pedestals and chip pan on mine. My motor is in the headstock pedestal. I wonder if that is a real Aloris tool post, or a Chinese copy? Really clean. Repainted?

There is a Standard Modern 13 x 40 Series 2000 lathe on Kijiji in Ontario right now, that looks pretty nice! Not heavy on the accessories, but if it is at least half as good as it looks in the pictures, it should be a gem!

Listed at $3750. When you compare that price to what you get at Busy Bee for the same money...

that lathe would have been an awesome deal, I see its listed as sold now.

Good gunsmithing size, except for the length of the spindle. Using a spider and 4-jaw chuck, only longer barrels can be mounted. A shorter spindle would be nice.
Spindle bore is just shy of 1 1/2". I've made things as small as screws, percussion nipples on mine.

Large and heavy enough that moving has to be done with proper equipment.

I thought repainted too, at first, then was not so sure. Too many tags and labels that don't seem to show any over-runs, that you usually see. If it was repainted, it was a while back, and well done.

Whatever, sometimes you actually do find a Unicorn! But it does show that there are some pretty decent machines to be got!
