Least favourite cartridge?

My least

favorite cartridge is any cartridge that is not large enough to take the game they are after.

Examples: 17HMR Coyotes.... Give your head a shake
22 cals on whitetails

Bottom line from whitetails on up nothing smaller than a .308 dia bullet.

30-06, then maybe the 30-30. Actually, I have a general distaste for anything in 30 cal. 30's too much 'in the middle' - really too much for the smaller big game species, and really a little too small for the big ones. I'm NOT a fan of the 'all-around' theory, it just ensures mediocrity at everything. 7mm08 or 260 is perfect for the smaller stuff, and the 338 or 35 bore is perfect for the bigger stuff (assuming a modern cartridge with enough oomph)

I try to dislike the 270, but I cant, it's just too much fun. Although I would admit that I'd much rather see the .277 bore extinct and supplanted by the .284/7mm bore. Same with the 25-06 - it's just too much fun to dislike, although on principal I think the .257 bore should not exist at all, in favour of the .264/6.5mm bore.

So the various 6mm on up the 7RM are not sufficient for deer?

All righty then......

Any of the WSM's, SAUM's. The cartridges are already there that do the same job, as someone else said , it is all just marketing. I like the old stuff(45 Colt, 250 Savage, 303 Savage). Les

####ty, now I have to sell my 7mm RM and 270 WSM since they're too small for deer anymore

I think the 303 had its day and now its over...not a great one anymore.

260 and 7-08 remingtons.

270 win and 7mm RM.

note this has nothing to do with capabilities, just personal preference.

I can't believe that I forgot to add 7.62x39. I must have been tired.;)

7.62x39's one of my favorite cals. ;) One of the most efficient cartridges going, insanely accurate in a good bolt action (the basis of the PPC line of bench rest cartridges), laughable recoil, and very versatile. :)

I used to hate .30 cals, then I realized just how efficient they are given the larger base diameter, though my favourite bore is the 7mm. :) I like BC's :p

Well, my only experience with the cartridge has been using a mini-30(yuck) and an SKS(ick), so you can understand my discontent.;)

I may be somewhat biased though, because when I sweep up our range there are always hundreds (if not thousands) of these cases laying about.

yep, 7.62x39, and the 303 are two Im not overly fond of, but mainly due to the rifles they're chambered in

444 marlin doesnt do much for me either.

Least Favorite Cartridge

My least favorite cartridge has to be the 30.06!Not because it's so bad but because it's so versatile! If I owned one I wouldn't have much of an exuse for owning most of the other guns I have!:D Mur

That'll do it :D Been there myself.

My 7.62x39 is different than what most are accustomed to though, it's loaded in Lapua brass launching Scenars out of a CZ 527. :)

What? Have the deer suddenly evolved Kevlar hides?

If they have they better be better than the vest I wear at work...it sure won't stop a 303...There are just alot better choices than that cartridge is all.
