Least favourite cartridge?

Without a doubt the 270 win followed by the 270wsm.Both offer more power than necessary for deer sized game,but the .277" bore is on the small side for moose and elk.

Least favourite cartridge? Probably the .308 everything it can do the 30/06 can do better.

.270, far overrated. It's so close to what it always should have been,the .280. The better selection of bullets is just .007" away. Many beautiful rifles came into my hands with good intentions. I just cannot get into that .277" foolishness though and out they went unloved and unused.

Hardly!! ........ The 308 is just about the perfect deer caliber. :rolleyes: :)

It's accurate.
Most rifles it is chambered for are light in weight.
Comes in all action types, and a bunch of those are short.
Recoil is low enough for most shooters.
Usefull out to 300-400yds.
Full range of reloading components available .
Factory loads available EVERYWHERE!
More than adequate for duty as a moose caliber if need be.

The 25-06 is the perfect deer cartridge. But we are not talking favourite deer cartridge either. I guess if it ends in -06 it's a pretty capable cartridge. So I'll change my choice from 30-06 to -06.
 
For me it's any cartridge brought out that doesn't do anything that an older cartridge has been doing for years.....ie: the WSMs. Raums, Saums, etc....its all just marketing

One more 7mm mag just because I think it's freakin overrated.
Was talking Elk hunting with a guy the other day and he asked what I was taking out so mentioned that I had a 30/06 but think I'll take the 7x57 as it's a really nice handling rifle.
Well he says, too small for elk he's taking his 7mm mag bla bla bla.
So I pionted to him that they shoot the same bullet. That shut him up for a second then he started with the velocity argument and that the 7mm mag kills better cause it's faster. Speed demons: VELOCITY DO NOT KILL!!!!! BIG BULLETS KILL. you only get more range from speed and most of us can't shoot much past 400 yards so 30/06 can do that just as easily as a 7mm mag. for those who hate the "06 because it's used by many and boring, sure it is but it works well for the last 100 years and will do it for the next 100 or next gun ban.

Yeah, for me I think the 7mm Mag is my least favorite, too.
