OK, we all have our preferences. What's your least favourite cartridge and why?
Mine is 30-06. I just think it's way too common, at least in my neck of the woods.

I had a 7mm RUM. It was a factory chambered Remington that I tried numerous loads and powders with. It never did shoot and the velocity with the 175 grain bullets was barely worth mention above the 7 RM.. Kicked like a mule on steroids! The gun is now a 7 RM.

least favorite, probably the 300 win mag, but Ive never owned or even shot one :D 7 Ultra, 300 Ultra run 2nd/3rd, STW is up there too

Mine is probably the 50cal only because I've never seen or shot one and most likely never will. For me it's that holly grail that I'll never get.

I always see the 30-06 being attacked by everybody. Is that why they call it "venerable" ? :D

.270, far overrated. It's so close to what it always should have been, the .280. The better selection of bullets is just .007" away. Many beautiful rifles came into my hands with good intentions. I just cannot get into that .277" foolishness though and out they went unloved and unused.

Agreed! Though the .300WinMag is a close second. If you want a magnum, buy something magnum length, not a marketing ploy to sell more ammo.

I'm with you Rob, it's certainly a capable cartridge, but the American and otherwise fascination with the .277" bore escapes me. I'll never argue the .270 isn't effective, I simply don't understand it's popularity with the .280 as the direct competitor. More confounding to me is the popularity of the .270 WSM.

Next, would be most things .257" cal. In my view, the 6 and 6.5mm's have it covered, and more effectively. Again, a .25-06 is a capable rifle, as is the .257 Roberts, and .250-3000, but I just feel the metric counterparts are much better choices, give me a 6.5x55 over a .25-06 any day. :)

For me it's any cartridge brought out that doesn't do anything that an older cartridge has been doing for years.....ie: the WSMs. Raums, Saums, etc....its all just marketing.
