LEGAL 10 round SKS with detachable mag...accomplished!..

My only concern with our ever-growing thirst for ten-rounders is some unelected bureaucrat one day decides we need to actually own the pistol which actually takes those ten-rounders...

i saw a mag adapter on sks survivor board a guy in Texas he calls it the g7ar adapter he makes other adapter for tapco mag http://ww w.thesksmagadapter.com/ this is his site he has not put it on sale yet saying this i would also be interested in getting one from you no boarder hassel

Edit. Hot link to non-sponsoring business broken.

Strikes me that there are two aspects to marketing this.
First, find a machineshop that will manufacture the adapters.
Second, arrange for a gunsmithing shop to modify the receivers for adapter purchasers.
There is the additional issue of the adapters being tested and proven to be functional, prior to return to the owners.
Perhaps a package deal could be offered - adapter, receiver alteration, and magazines. One stop shopping.

Imagine this with the supposed Sparta Stock Promag is releasing for the SKS in the new year... Hopefully the issues going on down south don't hamper that... if they do maybe a Canadian could start designing good quality low cost replacement stocks for our rifles :p

What was used magwel wise to start off the adapter? Or is it completely custom machined?

started as a blank piece of billet T6061 alu.

yea....a few problems with that "adapter" 1. It still uses mags limited to 5 rounds. 2. It requires you to cut up your tapco duckbill mags....All that adapter does is allow you to run your duckbill SKS mags without the duckbill. Thi helps with the carrying of the mags on you, nothing else.

There is another gentleman in US who has made an adapter to fit AR-15 style mags...but his requires the mag to be significantly modified, a big no no in this country.

I've decided to do a trial run with 5 adapters that i will make available to the public. Whether i will sell them as a package with a already modified SKS, or have instructions provided, or have the rifles shipped so i can modify them is still up in the air.

My SKS is already modified to work with XCR mags. I'll bet your magazine holder would just pop right in with minimal, if any, further modifications to the gun!

When you're ready to make more and sell them, I will want one.

I'd love and appreciate being one of 5.. My receiver has already been milled so the adapter wouldn't take much (if any) receiver modification to fit and the bolt already cycles rounds through an XCR mag. My own project hit a bump when my machinist neighbor (a liberal) got horrified by the CT shootings and now doesn't want anything to do with rifles. I appreciate his help so far, but for now my project is stuck (mostly where your adapter would do its trick - holding the mag in the right place). I know a machinist who can finish it for me at a reasonable cost, but it would involve 3-4h of driving. Already own an XCR mag ;)
