Legal 8.5" 6.5" Rem 870 w/ Pistol Grip

Yep I agree & so am I, however with the Wendiites monitoring this site I wouldn't feel comfortable using the L word.

Yes wrong word!! Canadiangunnuters need to wrap there head around what is LEGAL regardless of what it looks like!! Using words like "Loophole" just fuel the ANTI's.

Tavor or AR 10 round mags, bullpup's, 870 8.5" are SIMPLY LEGAL under the current laws end of story.

Correct it is not a loophole it is an accurate interpetation/clarification of the existing laws. The new DAC/870 is no more dangerous thn any other shotgun.

The antis should know it is designed as a very compact animal defence gun, meant to take up very little space and still deliver enough energy to be effective, and IMO it is an awesome tool for that job.
I got mine for that very reason since me and my family live, work and play in areas inhabited by high densities of bears. If the antis don't like it that is for them to deal with, I am the one protecting my family....not them.
Cheers

Yeah.. and really, that's why 99.9 percent of people who buy 'em will want 'em. Of the other.01 percent, it's just the same as any 'cool' gun.

But... you know they won't see it that way, right? :D

So who is going to make a drop leg holster for one of these?

Would this one work? :)

hard to tell . the SERBU shot gun has a 2 inch shorter barrel (6.5 inches) and the foreend may be narrower. the holster looks like a really neat design - and at $145 US retail, it should be. Assuming the holster doesn't fit the Canadian SG, for that kind of money, I wonder if a Canadian supplier could't be found.?

There was a company out of alberta i think - made custom 'armpit' style holsters for more 'standard' pistol grip shotguns, you just told 'em what gun you had or sent it to them and they made it for you gun. They were pretty cool too. I'll have to look 'em up again.

Ahhh - found it.

okanagansaddlery.com/Defender_page_3.htm

That's for a long barrel - but i bet they could whip up a doozy for a shortie shotty. Probably figure out a belt holder too.

I am confused...

Does this simply mean that using factory made parts, a shotgun no longer has to conform to 26 inches to be non-restricted?

AS I UNDERSTAND IT - if it's assembled by the manufacturer... yes, that's what it means.

For you to modify an existing gun to these specs, that'd make it a prohib.

Ahh - so putting a Hogue Tamer grip on my 12.5" 870 Police would make it prohib ???

As i understand it. Now.. i've seen one letter and heard a few explanations. I don't feel i truly understand this ruling. I think i'd maybe either call dlask and ask them who they spoke to so that you can clarify the law for yourself, or i would call myself (but get anything you hear in writing.)

In my opinion inundating CFC with calls regarding this ruling is not a good thing. Let the dust settle for a while buy one from Dlask if you want one and then in a few weeks worry about modifying your own gear. Sound fair??

Probably a wise move. I guess i was saying that without clarification on the law, i'd argue against modifying any of your own guns at the moment. As you say.. buy from dlask. That gives you reasonable protections.

Woohoo!

I just got my order in!

I got the last one of the first batch!

They are so swamped right now its crazy. They have stopped all custom work to get all these SMD12s built.

Cant wait!!!

I am so excited it really takes the edge off of knowing how much KD I wil have to eat to get my CC paid off!

wendell - for gods sake don't drag up EVERY dlask thread and post the same thing.

Once is quite enough. Hope it works out and you get it cleared up
