Let’s see your retro AR’s

Not so any longer. Brownells makes a new-manufacture Triangular Charging Handle as part of its "Retro" parts line. $59.99 USD gets you one in a gray anodized finish just like the Colt original. The bottom has fallen out of the retro furniture market thanks to Brownells' "Retro" line, and now they are going to produce complete rifles...

Travis, it's a Nodak repo

Dang!

Wish these parts were around 8 years ago when I built mine.
Sourcing flat delta rings and A1 3 prongs back then was next to impossible!

Must. Resist. Temptation to build an XM177!.... lol

Does anyone know offhand if Brownells is able to ship A1 furniture to Canada without an import fee? Or if there is a Canadian distributor? I haven't seen one in my research

All furniture came from brownells. no import fee.

Here's a real mx177 upper with faux moderator(One of Bricks Clone Moderator). Mike@NDS I need a lower. It's currently on a 6920 lower I have in the EE.

Beautiful rifles "Guys"!
Does anyone know where to buy the XM FH? Brownell's is sold out and places I've checked in the States won't ship up here......

That one is built by Brick from AR15.com. Clay at Prophet Imported for me, he only charged me $10+GST.

I like this thread! I just started on my budget 607-ish build this morning, but can't afford one of the nice repro stocks. Making my own, we'll see how it turns out. Need a few other things too (barrel, new lower to replace the one I wrecked, the list goes on). Also turning down a phony moderator to mimic a 3.5." It won't be accurate down to the last detail but will be close enough for me.

I don't think the market has fallen out for retro furniture. It's not the same quality as the "real" stuff. Brownells even has it in their disclaimer. It's injection molded plastic vs. fiberlite. It just offers a cheaper alternative for people that can not afford the real deal. It's like restoring any Milsurp rifle or you going to put NOS wood on it or a repo? Would you put Tapco or CAA on a C8? My new in the package M16A1 hand guards cost me over $100, but you just don't find them anymore new in the package. Most the clone builder are putting on USGI parts to get it as close to the real thing as possible.

Here’s a “sporter” that I did up quite a few years ago

Still not done but I’m having a good time with it. It’s all colt but the charging handle. Hard to find a good pencil barrel but do have a slip ring. Probably more pain than it’s worth to take it apart.

I've always liked the retro look. I have a few that aren't really clones... modern in function, but retro in style...

C8 upper on Colt Canada lower

Green Brownells retro furniture on a Colt Canada SA20

Brown Brownells retro furniture - this setup is a placeholder for my Maccabee rifle, when I get it. Everything here is going to be donated to the Maccabee except the lower parts, as I have another parts kit waiting.

And an SA20 "C7A1"
