Let's make a concerted effort to get pics, shall we?

Here was yesterday, the deer at home haven't come out in the open all fall, no idea why. Thanks to the howling chinook I was able to get into the thick timber and have the wind cover my very slow footsteps on the blanket of crisp dry leaves. By slow I mean it takes over an hour to go 30 yds in this brush.

Wow. Did you dress up as a tree stump? Use scent control? I can be a pretty patient person when I want to be, but 30yds per hour? Surely the deer were moving faster than yourself?

all nine of them within 40yds, half within 20!

Beat this one old buddy ;)

I actually had my first and most likely last opportunity to tap a 160 class mule deer in the nose with my boot. He must have have had only one thing on his mind :bigHug:. By far one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me while hunting.

I knew mule deer could jump but that sucker just about took orbit

We came across this mule deer that the coyotes had found on Friday while mulie hunting. There was hardly a scrap of meat left on the deer. It's interesting how efficient the coyotes are.

This picture was in the morning and the camera was on normal settings. It was a very different colour to what is normally there.

After it walked too close to my 30-30.

Camo is for those who move too fast.;) Only camo I have is my neck warmer and gloves, no cover scent. The second they got down wind of me they did not like it, that's for sure but they couldn't figure out where I was as each time I saw them coming first and crouched down. The drab clothes I wear helps, that trapper nelson those sticks out like a sore thumb.
It is not that bad to go that speed if you just slow down and keep that pace. If you hurry it up for a bit I find it hard to slow down again. Which would explain why I scared off the elk Sunday.:( Next time I will be ready for them!

One less coyote

Shot this fella from my tree stand with my 45/70. He passed by in too much cover for a shot. He circled back around toward me after I made a fawn bleat on my deer call.
420gn Cast Performance at 1800fps is plenty for a coyote...

Still looking for that buck too.

Sunday duck hunting

Got out waterfowling 2 Sunday's ago. Only bagged one greenhead, but still had a great morning out on the water.

My blue heron confidence decoy. First season using it, & it seems to help.

Duck decoys are on the left, geese on the right.

Noel, you can't kill deer with a 25-35! ;)

Think about it: a 117 gr bullet at only 220 fps?

Ted

Your right Ted, what was I thinking.:D He was actually just stunned so we used him for a photo prop.
The folks around here used to plug moose with them too. Rekon I will leave that as lore with the olde pics instead of trying to prove it. However the 250-3000 has asked several times to go next.......

Great Grey owl nest. Hope you like these I risked my life to get them. Not only from the shelacking I would have got if Momma came back but also the spindley tree I had to climb.
