Let's see some pics of your Pimped out Troy PAR

Anyone consider adapting a gas system and converting these to semi auto? If the receiver is unmodified and barrell is over 18.5" I don't see why they wouldn't keep unrestricted status...

A system somewhat like the Sig MCX (no buffer tube needed) should be possible and relatively straightforward. Just an idea.

Can't be done.

Can't be done.

You misunderstand me; I'm not talking about swapping an AR reciever on, just grafting a piston and recoil spring onto the (currently pump driven) slide action bar. AR barrels fit right on. The beauty of this is that the receiver is not changed and the end result should still be an unrestricted but now semi auto rifle...

I think it defeats the purpose to turn this back into semi-auto like AR. Not saying it is absolutely cannot be done technically but why not just get an AR then since giving this semi-auto will likely throw this back into restricted anyway (plus CA and NY will likely not allow it anymore). Have that said.. what do you guys think if they would add forward assist in future generations? Will it help or will it cause more issues?

Btw, I finally ordered a .223 version today (screw waiting after filing tax....) ;) Not sure how long it will take to arrive but can't wait to try it out asap. Now I need to go buy more mag and ammo. Is there any mag (LAR-15 or std 5 rds stuff) that runs good with this or everything is good? Also any particular .223 ammo that it likes or dislike?

Oh I understand you, but a few who have posted here are suggesting something that you may not understand.

Anything is possible with the right amount of money, access to machining tools and engineering know how, that is how they come up with the Charlton semi auto.
as being relatively straightforward? it won't be.

National match version worth the extra money over the standard one?

I've been thinking the same thing. The sights I don't care about, and the folder means you will have to source a part if you want to switch to a standard buttstock down the line. That and the shape of the folder looks.... uncomfortable.

.....and you forgot to add ------ everybody who owns one in the process.

It appears Troy has evolved the PAR to a gen 2 version which has an AR rounded type upper receiver along with a return to the rounded Alpha rail with a more conventional pump action foregrip without the pic rails.

"Upgraded Handguard

The 2017 Pump Action Rifles from TROY feature an all new handguard and upgraded pump mechanism. The new handguard is ergonomic and will feel more familiar to shooters accustomed to shooting pump-action shotguns. The integrated handstop makes it easy for less experienced shooters to drive rounds into the battery, and more control during rapid firing.
The new pump mechanism comes standard on all 2017 TROY Pump Action Rifle calibers and is available as an upgrade kit for current TROY Pump Action owners."

I actually like the changes, wonder if any of the pump internals got upgraded too?

I just updated my post with this quote from Troy......

So I am not sure if Troy is referring to the handgrip or only the internals. I will be investigating further.
