Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

Just to be clear Patrick, Ferlach is where the gun was made/proofed. Not who made it. You may already know this and if so, forgive me. Ferlach is the gun making centre of Austria. Suhl was/is a major gun making centre and location of a proof house in (East) Germany.

James, I was aware that it only referred to Ferlach, Austria. I should have worded my post better. I don't recall seeing any pictures posted of Ferlach made guns. (Whether a guild gun or we'll known maker)

Little bit of Research show me it is Josef Mischitz Ferlach with British proofs marks?

Here's a Pedro Gorosabel sidelock. This 12g was manufactured in 1961 and came equip with side clips, extractors and full/light mod chokes. Weighing in at 7.1lbs this sxs is a nice example of a 1960's Spanish made sidelock from Eibar.

Here is an interesting acquisition-
It is a James Bott double, and one of the easiest and nicest opening actions I have ever worked with. Has some very intersting history though, as it has new barrels by Charles Osborne, (2 GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON). This address was only in use 1898-1902, so that's when the barrels were installed. And at some time in the distant past someone has inletted a 1921 Dutch silver coin into the right side of the butt stock. I enjoy it as a fine example of a Rigby style side-lock at a price I could afford, the "investment value" is obviously lessened by the inletted coin, but I enjoy imagining what the backstory on that might have been.

Yes it is a sideplated boxlock, made by Josef Mischitz, Ferlach Austria. 16 gauge with 28" barrels. Not sure if I had posted pics before, maybe some other forum.

1963Beretta - That is nice Eibar sidelock. I have owned a couple in the past and all were nice handling guns.

Very nice gun RSCO. love those Damascus barrels and the dipped lockplates?

Very Very nice piece, Is it a self opening shotgun?

First day out with new to me SKB 100. Picked it up off the EE (thanks again Baron) and spent most of the winter refinishing the stock in tung oil. The metal shows some handling but is in very good to excellent condition. Flushes were in tight cover and the dogs were as crazy as one would expect on the first day out. I was a little concerned about the 25" barrels but this little gun is lightning fast and kills Ruffies dead. Obviously not the quality of some of the heirloom pieces shown here but I couldn't be happier.

Finally I have something to add to this thread.

Spent a week in Saskatchewan hunting ducks and geese with a buddy from NS. He had never been West of Toronto and couldn't believe the numbers of birds in the air. This was the first time I've been waterfowling since my father passed last year and he and I always spent a lot of time hunting birds so it was pretty special for me to be able to take out his old Model 21 to get it back in the field. The gun had been sidelined for many years since the advent of steel shot (it's choked F/F) and I bought him a case of Tungsten Matrix shells a few years back to get it back out hunting. Talk about the "good old days". I made shots that Mark couldn't believe. Looking forward to getting the old gun out next year when I go back to SK.

Well, I just got this Manufrance Ideal Grade 6R EE Excelsior back from the smith so don't have any nice shots of it with dead birds yet but that will come soon enough. I have posted pics of this gun before, in the original condition that I bought it in. The wood needed refinishing and the pad was shot. I replaced the pad with a carved horn butt plate, the wood has been re-done with a hand rubbed oil finish and the head has had the oil removed and been glass bedded for long term strength. Pretty pleased with the wood that showed up!

This gun has 29" barrels choked IM and Full, made in 1919. They are 5 palm barrels from Manufrance which is typically the highest quality made by MF. Theoretically it goes to 7 palms but I've never even seen a pic of a six or seven palm barrel. I managed to find an all factory original, unmolested 25" 4 palm set of barrels, also made in 1919 (once in a lifetime find), so the next project is finding the correct forend iron and fitting the new barrels to the gun. Will open the chokes on the short barrels for a nice woodcock/grouse gun. With the longer barrels the gun comes in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces.
