The first stock that Chris did for me was my Charles Smith damascus gun. He made a horn buttplate for it and it looks fantastic.
Well, it's a bittersweet day for me. I just sold one of my favorites and one of the first doubles I ever bought. My 1935 A H Fox 16 gauge Sterlingworth with ejectors. I hate to see it go. Thank goodness I have another!
But all in a good cause. Haven't taken delivery yet but there will shortly be a new "crown jewel" in my safe. When it arrives a full compliment of pics. In the meantime, here's a teaser for any who like a good puzzle. BTW, those who know already are automatically disqualified. That means you, Brian and Patrick!
When read correctly these marking will tell you not only the proofs but the makers as well.

I see East German proof-marks from Suhl. Witten steel barrels...looks to be a Charles Daly branded Lindner

That was fast. Well done! I thought it might be a bit of time before someone noticed the HAL stamp on the barrels.

I've been looking for a Browning Citori Mossy Oak 12 gauge for a few years... got lucky with this Like New 2003 model... first four shots were a pair of doubles on Canada's and next four shots were a pair of doubles on bluebill's... I am liking this one... fits me like a glove as with most Citori's that I have owned. (Yeah, Canvasback... another Cut & Paste)

I gotta get my hands on a 20g BSS sporter and see how it feels. Epps had one I wanted to see this past weekend but it sold before I had a chance to get to the store. The fit of a 12g I saw at the Orangeville gun show was perfect, but the combination of the straight grip and weight wasnt my preference. Would be nice to compare it to a 20g to see the difference

Thats what I figured..and if it fits as well as the 12g, it would be a keeper for me as well
Just took delivery of a new (old) gun today. Haven't got the exact year of production down yet but that will get sorted out soon. It's a Charles Daly Diamond Quality 12 gauge, made for SD & G in Prussia by H.A Lindner, regarded by some as the finest maker of boxlocks, period. Only have the pics from the listing right now, haven't had the chance to take my own shots yet, but it's a beautiful handling and beautiful looking gun. The engraving and wood is stunning. Just going to post a few now. It will disappear at the end of the season into the great gaping maw known to us all as "the 'smiths" for some needed TLC and hopefully on it's return, will turn out to be a real Cinderella story.
Probably headed to South Dakota in December for some late season pheasant and I think this one gets to come for the ride!
