The question & usage of 'pistol grip-stocks' on large bore shotguns has probably been discussed before, but I will log in once more. First off
= they do have their place (though limited), mostly because they; look cool/tactical/menacing, functionally though they are more of a novelty,
the vertical pistol-grip W/an auto-pistol angle/slant is what most shooters are familiar with.
This style grip places most of the recoil & rearward forces 'slamming' back into your hand & by extension into the bones/joint of the wrist. The pistol-style grip mfg'd. by SpeedFeed (used in the movie 'Book of Eli') is a fore-shortened version of most factory shoulder stocks/OEM, this
style of grip works on a 'force of travel-inline design'. Recoil & rearward forces are directed inline along the bore axis. This is keeping with the original ergonomics & design of a shoulder-fired long gun, and saves the pain = wear & tear on your wrist.
