What brand/model are the peep sights on that CZ?

I don't think so. I am not to sure on the history of Valmet but have been told their factory turned into now days Sako. From what I have seen their quality is better than Sako's (that Valmets really a tough gun - huge walled reciever, excellent trigger, tough walnut stock, etc). I can see these guns being worth a few bucks in the future though. Mine is in excellent condition, is an excellent shooter (1/4" groups often at 50 yards), it has an excellent trigger around 1.5-2oz that can be turned into a two stage in a couple seconds, and is glass bedded. I haven't seen too many of these guns around, but another shooter at our club uses one as well - it is a good shooter.

Wow, interesting solution for the front rail. I would like to put together a 'sporter/target' rifle for myself for 3p club level shooting. I want to start with a good quality stock rifle and add sights later as funds allow. Would you recommend the CZ 452 for this application? Any other suggestions?

I would go with something that is more made for 3p shooting like a CIL 190. These can be found relatively cheap and would be better served for 3p type shooting than the CZ. I use my CZ though for plinking, fun silhouette type matches, and applications like that - it works just great!
