It's too tough for me to replicate the M203A1 mount that the CF uses... Talk about a piece that is an answer for no one's question.

It was an answer to a wpns techs question. The previous version was not quick attach and had to be installed by wpns techs. Problem was the M203 was shipped from unit to unit as it was only for operational deployment. This created a lot of unnecessary extra work for techs during workup training. The head procurement guy being a tech himself probably decided quick attach would be better, and it is, but of course they unnecessarily added a lot of weight and and extra height for that stupid "cook off" bulls**t. Ironically, when they came up with the god awful new mount they also issued M203s to all the infantry units at the rate of two per section instead of just for operation deployment, so having a quick attach mount was no longer as important.

It's funny that with the KAC M5 20" full length RAS, it utilizes the QD mount making a nice clean system for the 203 and bolt on accessories. When you take into consideration the modification to the "Canadianized" 203, M203A1, I'm sure it would have been a lot cheaper to use the existing US M203 and KAC M5 RAS.

Also funny that the US doesn't have reports of "cook off" with what they are using, and during the length of time it has been used, we would have heard about it.

Oh well, keeping business alive in someone's riding.

Besides, it makes you almost think the Canadian Gov't doesn't care about us collectors of militaria:rolleyes: How do they expect us to keep up with all the bling when they make it hard like this. How inconsiderate.
