Let's see your C7 clones! (and C8 clones too, I guess...)

I think the original batches were marked un the tongue for the grip so invisible when assembled. The newer ones aren't as nice. The new ones are also engraved, the older ones were laser etched and had a cleaner look to them.

.....wow....

anyone who isnt old enough to remember the first Canadian deployment to A-stan, please put up your hand.....

And ya...Some very good C7 A whatever clones here!

Don't worry my friend. As your fire team partner at the time I will dismiss all this nonsense about Roto + or - I remember seeing you there. ;)

As for ambi parts and extra's on the rifles at the time...

This guy is out in left field, if your going to clone something from a certain era attention to detail is what counts.

Plain jane 7's and 8's.

That's it. That's all.

Nothing fancy for the "Warfighters" at the time.

Wow, that's so far back KevinB was in the CF :D

All the C7s, C7A1 and C7A2s have the same style barrel

True, but he asked about the original in particular :)

That are also 1:7, chrome lined bore and chamber, and have cold hammer forged barrels and chambers (i.e. the chambers are not reamed in a separate oepration).

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot get a commercial copy of a C7 barrel as nobody but Colt Canada is building a gov't profile A2 with a CHF chamber - though some makers do sell A2 gov't A2 bbl's with CHF bores. CMMG is one example, and is why I used a CMMG base rifle for my clone.

Continuous improvement...

I'm now just waiting for my CF cadet rail segment to mount my optional Cadex VFG.

Well, it was mine from September last year until February this year....

:(

I'm trying to build a C8 as close to the one I carried Afghanistan as possible. I've got lots of pics to go by and I can always go into work to cross reference but finding parts is pretty tough. It was brand new when I got it, had to clean the grease off her myself. It got destroyed by an IED, and so did I for that matter.
Here's what she looked like
