Let's see your Dangerous Game Rifles.

Damn that thread is starting to make itchy for a big bore…. .366 is the biggest I have now in two different cartridges, 9.3x62 and 9.3x74r….
I always wanted a 450-400 maybe a 404 Jeffrey or 416 Rigby. An old beat up gun on the outside but with good guts would do!!
Keeping my eyes open! We’ll see!!

Just had a .375 H&H built for me by Leroy at Canyon Creek Customs. Started with a newer Win Model 70 Safari Classic CRF, a nice Turkish Walnut blank from Clay at Prophet River and sent it down to Leroy to his magic. Rifle is ready to be exported and should have it by end of April at the latest. Leroy sent me these pics to give me a preview of my new DG rifle. It is now time to retire my trusted Sako M85 Kodiak in .375 H&H which will be posted on EE shortly.

^^
Thanks much appreciated. I figured out reduced loads for my big boomers lots of fun for low recoil practice & plinking.

Got my .458 Win Mag Remington 798 loaded for hunting 500gr @ 1925 fps mv & for plinking 405gr @ 1350 fps mv..
[
458 with 405 @1350? nice . which powder do you use?

Doesn't Buffalo Bore offer 45-70 loaded with a 380 grain solid producing a muzzle velocity of 2075 fps and muzzle energy of 3632 ft/lbs?

Load that into a modern and strong lever action and you have a fast handling and handy dangerous game rifle. Though you better have a good grip on the forestock! (Probably best and safest out of a Ruger #1 !)

That is a beautiful rifle, congrats. That will be a joy to carry afield, will add to the overall experience.

Germania Waffenwerk A.G. Zella-Mehlis in 9.3x62. Rifle manufacture is from about 1932.

Winchester M-70 Safari, .375H&H with a 1.5-5X Leopold Vari-X III scope.

CZ-550, .458Lott. Bought this rifle out of Williams Lake, BC. It was originally .458WM, had it reamed out to .458Lott.
David Henry did all the gunsmithing on this beauty, reaming the chamber, adding the sling swivel barrel band,
plus glass bedding the stock and adding the cross-bolts in the stock.

ZKK-602 .416RM, in a MacMillan stock, 1.75-6X Leopold Vari-X III scope. The rifle was originally .375H&H, the original owner had it bored out to .416RM.
I sent it to David Henry and he shortened to barrel to 23.5", added the sling-swivel barrel band and glass bedded the MacMillan stock.

The buffalo bore 430 gr 450 Marlin is brisk out of a Browning BLR SS T/D, but cycles reliably. A pistol grip stock vice the straight grip would probably help a bit.

I've got a few 9.3x62s that would make a persuasive argument with a 325gr oryx, 286gr banded solids or 286 Barnes TSX, but that seems like overkill for North America.
I have an H&K SLB 2000, Win 1895 and a Verney-Carron pump in 9.3x62 that I'd all much prefer to use than the 450 marlin. Not a huge fan of the sights on the 1895. I think it needs a red dot.

You've got some nice tools there my friend.

^ Thank you sir!

I got a double on a couple nice black bear boars that were feeding together on a cutline up in Judy Creek area, with that beauty 9.3x62.

*Boom* dumped the first boar swung on the second boar and *boom*... took like 2 seconds and 2 shots.

Neither of them so much as twitched after the shots.

The .416RM has taken 1 wolf, 1 black bear and 1 bull moose for me.

Which I guess means I got to get busy with Lott and the .375H&H.

That's a beauty. Leroy does fine work. I've been drooling over the big bore rifles Clay posted that were built on the Defiance CRF action.
