I have a a couple 9.3x62 rifles, A Verney-Carron and Sauer 202. Dangerous game capable, but just barely. Same with my Beretta Silver Sable II O/U 9.3x74R. I think they're more appropriate for local game like bears and moose, but have taken game as heavy as a giraffe with the 9.3x62 and it worked just fine. I have two 375 H&H rifles, a Sako M85 Kodiak, and a Winchester M70 Alaskan. Both are more "versatile" than they are true dangerous game rifles in my opinion. Wonderful for most anything though. I've killed a Cape buffalo with a .375 with no troubles.
My real Dangerous Game rifle is this one, a Merkel 140 AE in .450-400 3" Nitro Express. It is actually quite easy to shoot accurately and quickly, and has served me well for elk and moose as well as Cape buffalo. It's coming with me to Mozambique in July.
I've used a rented .416 Remington Win. M70 for Elephant, only because I was hunting in Zimbabwe then and Canadians can't bring their own rifles there.
