Previously posted "thumper" (1895GS with OEM pepper laminate, talleys and a Leupold 2.25X in 7/8") is gonna be supplemented in the thick stuff this year with its lighter 336SS cousin in .30-30 wearing a Champion synthetic stock, this profile Pachmayr decelerator, and using Hornady Leverrevolution and a fixed Leupold 2.5X. bases are 2 piece millets with ultra-low leupold turn-in rings. Had the gun for a while, but not with this scope - which came too late for deer last year. I had to custom order it from Korth to get a german post reticle - which is SCHWING.

Very nice set-up Claven... should serve you well. Nice calibre choice to... will you be using the 200-220 gr heavies?
Not sure if this the the "ULTIMATE BUSH GUN", but it does rank high in the list as well as gives a lot of flexibility for longer shots if needed. The inspiration for this came from an ad that CGN member Double Gun listed on the EE, except his was a M600 in 243.
This one started as an ADL 243 that sold very cheaply on the EE. I have the bbl removed and replaced with a $25 (shipping included) 20" 308Win M600 bbl I found on the EE. Action was trued up, glass bedded, bbl free floated with new crown. The forestock was shortened by 1.25" for better proportion to the shorter bbl. It handles very well and the old VariX-II is perfect for the project.

When I head into grizzly country this is my bush gun my shortened to 21" barreled Rem 700 LSS in 375RUM
Set it up for hunting and defence when I was working in BC/Alberta as a self employed free miner.
When its job is defence I remove the VX111 4.5-14x40mm scope and install an XS Sights tall Weaver ghost ring backup rear sight.
I load it with 260gr Accubonds @ 3020fps, 300gr @ 2800fps and when its in defence mode 350gr TSX and Woodleighs @ 2450fps.
