mine is a Marlin Golden Mountie 39A and it is by far my bet lever..

My 39a Mountie is not for sale unless you got deep pockets.

what those boys said!

I picked up my 1954 Marlin 39A Mountie from a member here and love it.
Had a BL-22 that I thought was nice til I got the 39A.It's a smooth little rig and groups like crazy.
It's not real fond of .22 short but then neither am I :p

Have nothing to compare it too, but I have put a few hundred rounds through a BLR.

Aim, pull, hit.

Fun to shoot, my favorite rim fire rifle.

Browning BL-22 is a good choice. I am having a lot of fun with mine, especially since I can shoot 22long and 22short to keep the neighbours content.

I've had a Browning BL-22 since I was a boy. We've shot an average of a case (5000) of shells every year since 1975. Last year I've had it into the shop for a broken firing pin which cost 25 bucks for the part.

So the math is somewhere in the area of 150,000 rounds with one small repair. Not bad for a $200 rimfire rifle.

i recommend the henry lever .22 ! I got one for $330 and I love it. No problems whatsoever, i've put just over 1000 rounds through it, both long's and long rifle, high velocity and sub-sonic low velocity rounds (shooting outdoors to keep it quiet for the neighbours). Lever's are a hoot, the action is so fun to work. Check out this recent home video I made of me and some friends enjoying the henry lever outdoors shooting some pop cans and watermelons!

completely agree.

i bought one from frontier 3 years ago.

put at least 3000 rounds trough it, not one ftf or fte.

very accurate, weight next to nothing, no recoil and really quiet.

the action is smooth as hell.

that may very well be the perfect first rifle for youth shooters.

and the perfect camping plinker.

Have any other BL-22 owners noticed the brutally heavy trigger? major setback for me, and plus im not a huge fan of the tiny lever stroke, just cause it feels like a toy. Go with a winchester 94/22 thats a sweet little lever, and in .22 mag its even more awesomer for chickens at 100 yards or more lol

The Marlin Golden 39A is a great gun (built like a tank and extremely accurate), but it has a 24" barrel which I find to be cumbersome in the bush."

My 39A Golden Mountie has a 20 inch barrel. and Sealhunter, I just found out it was made in 1967.
I also have a Henry. It has the smoothest action of any 22 lever I have seen. Stop. I gave a grandson a Browning and he may not agree with that statement! I don't have the Browning here to check, but I think Henry will win the smoothness test, hands down.
I was surprised at the accuracy of the Henry. I put a Bushnell 4x scope, for 22 rifles, on it and yesterday was at the range testing out three brands of 22 shells. At fifty yards I had some five shot groups that would be under an inch. And I don't think any five shot group would have been as large as 1½ inches, and that included all shooting with three different kinds of standard (not target) shells.
The brands tested were CCI Blazer, Winchester Wild Cat and CIL, Dominion brand Super Clean.
I know, someone will say I should get some newer ammo, but just got to use up what we have on hand.

My BL 22, was originally my Grandfathers (so im told)

yidava25, yeah my trigger is heavier than I would like, but is not realy that bothersome.
The short throw makes it funny and faster to use I find. Pop a gopher, simply rotate your wrist slightly, pop another...

A removable mag would be nicer than the tube, but with the tube the stock is not fat like with a 10/22 and there is nothing hanging down either like with some repeaters, while still allowing for 15 LR rounds.
Makes a beautiful sleek rifle, IMO.
