30-06 need not apply Big magnum charges are what saved a mans life such like other lion hunts gone wrong with smaller calibres. Lions are often disregarded as to their toughness to kill.

I've always heard all dangerous game is hard to kill, hence part of the reason it's dangerous game. Maybe I'm missing the point?

It's still pretty pathedic to kill game just for the sake of claiming a kill. Would be nice to see a lion strike back and kill it's hunter. Would be well justified!

I like lions - but as long as they're not endangered, the hunt is done sustainably, and the proceeds of hunting them go towards helping the local economies - I have no problem with them being hunted.

It would be pretty hard to get a good scope picture of any animal running in heavy cover at close range. When its running at you, I doubt you'd want to mess around.
